I like Supernatural so far. Some of the characterization is suffering from the fact that it's the first few episodes, hopefully it'll calm down some as things go on and the characters become better established.

I'm not sure what to recommend about Smallville. I have almost a whole season to catch up on, so I can't say for sure what happened last year, but if nothing else Lex's descent into villainhod has been long and complicated - some of this coming season might not make a lot of sense without the history.

On the other hand, it's mass-marketted TV, so it's designed to be understandable.

I agree with this post.


I would vote for catching up on Smallville first (or concurrently, if you can catch up that quickly), if for no other reason than to see that one episode where Daddy Kent is driving down the road in his truck, singing the theme song from Dukes of Hazzard.

Anyway, by the time you get done catching up, the newest season ought to be out on DVD, as we're approaching the Spaceballs level of production where the DVD comes out before they're done filming the movie.
