Back from NYC! It was awesome though I am much poorer than I was a week ago lol. HOWEVER before I update about my trip, there are more important things to cover.
The best thing about this episode to me was the Anna/Pearl reunion, ngl. I wanted so much more originally out of their storyline but I'm happy at least Anna's love for her mother is consistent. Unlike some things, as you pointed out.
I can actually ignore most inconsistencies pretty well, but what the hell is up with Mikael/Michael? Why is nobody at all interested in him anymore? And KATHERINE?? :/
And would anyone really care if Matt and Jeremy mysteriously disappeared never to be seen again? I vote for this plotline.
Yeah, that scene was lovely. Back when the season first started, Julie Plec tweeted about a scene she wrote that made her cry in 3x07 and I'm guessing it was that reunion.
Usually I just let this show's crazy plotting roll off me, but it is not acceptable to draw out Katherine's "death." BB GIRL BETTER BE OKAY.
My theory on Lexi: she turned out to be a more popular one-off character than the writers thought, so they keep bringing her back to fill the role of anyone in Stefan's past, even though it doesn't make sense for her character.
My favorite stuff about the episode was actually the Anna/Jeremy stuff because idec. I loved them back in season and they remain one of my favorite TVD ships. I think that Jeremy just has so much chemistry with Anna. And I love Anna sfm. A;LSKDFJDS;LJKFSDJ. THEY GAVE ME SO MANY EMOTIONS THIS WEEK.

Word.

Double word. I think they were, and remain, one of the most interesting couples on the show.
Yes, I am guessing it is this. On the one hand I am of course pleased to get more Lexi, but on the other hand, I never know what version of Lexi I'm going to get lol.
Hahaha. I like Anna, I think? IDK I just found the whole plotline so boring and I want Bonnie to get something better than being jealous of a ghost girlfriend.
I see your comments and raise you...more comments!

This one, however, has the distinction of being the first one to get an actual tear out of me. When all the ghosts were going away for good I was like BAWWWWW. And then I felt quite silly. Because I was crying at a television show.
Aw! *hands over tissue*
The switch thing is maddening, and at this point I've all but given up on consistency re. whether or not it exists. The writers just seem to be using it or not using it depending on when it's convenient for maximum angst.
I suspect you are correct. This is obviously something that we as a fandom will have to try and fix by writing lots of meta that will eventually be jossed.
Re. Anna/Jeremy/Bonnie: this just served to remind me why I've never liked Jeremy/Bonnie. Jeremy and Anna had a more plausible connection (and had more chemistry this episode) in three weeks than Jeremy and Bonnie have had in...what's it been? Almost a season?Yeah, I would agree with you. It's not hard to be better developed than Bonnie/Jeremy though

Even though Jeremy is pure misogynistic creep, I liked that one cut scene with Jeremy and Stefan post-Jeremy's suicide attempt, where Jeremy is kind of fidgety and asking Stefan questions in a way that suggested he kind of looked up to Stefan; because hey, calm and stolid centuries old dude, not a bad role model on the surface. Of course...as it turns out....
Also: I definitely feel when supporting cast dies, but it's not an impact and I'm not surprised. I just go 'oh, the TVD writers did something awful for cheap shock value again, TO THE FANFICMOBILE.'
Re. Anna/Jeremy/Bonnie: this just served to remind me why I've never liked Jeremy/Bonnie. Jeremy and Anna had a more plausible connection (and had more chemistry this episode) in three weeks than Jeremy and Bonnie have had in...what's it been? Almost a season? The basis for Jeremy/Anna was, in my opinion, always more than a little unhealthy--disaffected teen bonds with eternal disaffected teen, a connection that's certainly strong but would have potentially stunted Jeremy forever. But there was a seed of genuine affection there that also fascinated me, and made me wonder if it also couldn't go the other way--if somehow Jeremy could get over himself and help Anna grow up too. OMG YES THIS. Jeremy/Bonnie just had NO basis, it was like, "Let's throw them together because they're single!" One day at the dance they see each other as romantically viable and then that's it. I was arguing with a Bonnie stan the other day about this, who was saying that J/B had no less basis at the beginning than any other pairing (like C/T, etc), but that'

I enjoyed this episode except I thought it could have been SO MUCH MORE. This could have been TVD's "Conversations With Dead People" and in some ways it was, but just not enough. I had mixed feelings about Anna/Jeremy because I like them so much better than Bonnie/Jeremy, but the plot with them was SO DULL but at least Anna got to reunite with her mother

Lol, even better is the fact that NOBODY SEEMS TO NOTICE THIS OR CARE. Mystic Falls is a rough town...:p
I think that in this case the switch is more just compulsion, period, since Klaus can do that...
Also apparently there is only going to be two more episodes of TVD and then a hiatus until 2012? WHAT.
I KNOW, I can't believe it, wtf?! O_o Isn't it a bit early for that, 3x09? Well it better not have many breaks in the second half...
