I can't deal with how beautiful my ship was in this episode.
I loved how Elena opened up to him and Stefan completely understood. It really felt like she was realizing these things to herself. LOOK I REALLY LOVE YOU BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT LIES AHEAD? & I loved loved loved how unfazed Stefan was with all of this. He just respects her so much.
& It's cool that the show recognizes how fucked-up Damon is but it isn't like he is going to face any real consequences. I don't think Elena will be allowed to be mad at him for more than two episodes. So, I am really done with him.
OTP BROKE MY HEART IN THIS. ELENA BROKE MY FUCKING HEART. Of course she doesn't want to turn and of course, while I think Stefan would like to keep her forever, he doesn't want to condemn her to his life. Gah, I loved their entire scenes together, their talks on the waterfalls (SO CUTE AND SMILING AT EACH OTHER) and Stefan defending Damon (<3__<3) and Elena saying that Damon doesn't get love the way functional people do (<333___<333!). I keep hearing people say, "Damon was trying to save the day, and Stefan was just taking a hike," and it annoys me because, well, Stefan didn't know Damon was doing anything, he thought they were continuing on with the plan. Was he supposed to spend the day looking a magical fix-it or try to give his girlfriend some peace of mind and mentally prepare her for what the rest of her life may be like. *random rant* But the point, THEIR SCENES WERE BEAUTIFUL AND LOVELY
( ... )
I don't want Elena to hold a grudge for decades because that's is exactly what Damon did to Stefan and we all saw how that turned out. So I think the show might have Elena forgive Damon and show the ~healing power~ of forgiveness because if Damon had been able to forgive Stefan he might not have spiraled out of control like he did.
That actually why I don't want easy forgiveness (besides my desire for ramifications and this to be a legit game changer). If Elena does the same thing that Damon did to Stefan, it'd be this horrible tragic heartbreaking thing, for Damon & Stefan both, and I would love it if the show went that dark. I can certainly see Elena being the bigger person and forgiving Damon and that's probably what the show is going to do, but I think it'd be interesting if the show let Elena turn and then took the opportunity (and season 3) to explore her dark side.
Elena holding a grudge would be completely different from Damon holding a grudge because she wouldn't act it out by raping and murdering and abusing innocent people? So just with that it would turn out incredibly exponentially better.
IF MATT KILLS TYLER, I AM NEVER SPEAKING TO HIM AGAIN. FUUUUUUU. Tyler and Caroline just have so much chemistry. I'd forgotten how much I shipped them until I saw them interacting again.
The thing about Damon that I really appreciated is not only was the show telling us that Damon was in the wrong, Damon realized pretty quickly that he messed up and his entire plot this episode was dedicated to him trying to fix his screw up. But it makes sense that he'd realize what he did was wrong because what he did to Elena was similar to what Stefan did to him and what started him on the 150 years of angst and bitterness.
This line is always upsetting to me because I feel like - being a threat - it's scary and gross on multiple levels? Because she doesn't want to be Damon's girlfriend, and stating that unequivocally makes it sound like a threat on a sexual level, too.
Oh how I love when you write out your thoughts about an episode :-)
OF COURSE Stefan wants Elena with him forever, and of course a part of him has thought about her turning. But Elena doesn’t want to and he knows and understands and respects her choice.
I think Stefan always knew this and that is why he never started the talk about it.
I do think that over time - a season or two - Elena might be ready, but of course she couldn't be ready now after half a day!
And then after that I was devastated by Paul Wesley’s cryface. He does have a very good cryface - actually make that he's good!
