For the train ride back to Ottawa, I put on Doctor Who Confidential which made me CRY ALL OVER AGAIN. And I watched the whole thing, which is unusual for me since usually I get impatient when they spend 20 minutes explaining some CGI affect they did. But... woe ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm holding off on watching the Confidential for that very reason. It's not like we're going to get fun videos of DT and BP snogging this time around, you know?

Julie Gardner also got all blubbery while giving an interview, which made me want to die on the inside. UGH. THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING.

To be fair, she always gets blubbery. I remember BP laughing about it in the "Doomsday" commentary.

...When did DT have back surgery? Clearly, I am falling down on my stalking.

It has been snowing for three days. I am eyeing the sky suspiciously. Humph.

How can it snow for three days? Doesn't it run out at some point? Although since it rained for a week straight in October, I guess my logic is faulty.

Good luck with classes tomorrow!

Yeah PRETTY MUCH. There were some shots of Matt Smith being dorky cute, but that was really the only redeemable feature. *SNIFFS ON YOUR SLEEVE*

Sometime in the middle of Hamlet... early last winter, I want to say?

Okay well maybe it's been more like two and a half days, but it's been a while and I do not approve. WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH SNOW ON THE GROUND, UNIVERSE. DO NOT FRET.

Good luck with classes tomorrow!

XD Thanks!

LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT HOW DAVID TENNANT HAD BACK SURGERY.

Because I had tickets to see Hamlet (I live in the US, this was a MAJOR undertaking), closing night, January 10. The day of the press night for the London run was December 10 or something like that and... he had to miss it. And then two days later they announced that he needed surgery for a prolapsed disc and would be out.... well, they didnt say how long. But they also didn't say he wasn't coming back. The London run was only like 34 performances or something. I have never in my life bitten my nails so hard and for so long. He came back to Hamlet for the last week of the run, 3 weeks after his surgery, so I did get to see him. Then he immediately turned around and went back to Cardiff and started filming the specials. His surgery was probably like 4 months prior to them filming The End of Time and I couldn't stop thinking about that when he was being wheeled around in the chair and also during this:

oh my god, that would be SO stressful. I'm glad that he was better in time for your show.

More than you ever wanted to know about David Tennant's prolapsed disc.

Considering that I somehow knew nothing about it whatsoever, this was very helpful.

Thank you, you just broke me again.

I SORRY. D:

TRY NOT TO CRY IN PUBLIC, THAT IS ALL I CAN SAY. OTHER PEOPLE FIND IT DISCONCERTING.

Haha, I'll try. I haven't cried about it in ~20 hours so I seem to be okay, however I think I'll need to be in private if I go ahead and watch the confidential.

"You want us to wheel David Tennant down stairs strapped to a chair? After he just had back surgery?!"

I KNOW RIGHT? I was hoping that was done with a double or some major trickery.

Apparently there was a giant David Tennant doll for a couple of takes, but he was later whining about how he did most of it himself, so... XD

Where was he whining? In the Confidential? Haven't managed to pluck up enough courage to cry my way through it see it.

Yeah, in the Confidential. It did look like quite a difficult scene, so I can't say I blame him, really.

When I saw the really, really sad last "I don't want to go," line of David's on the confindential I pretty much almost burst into tears. You're so right - there should definately be a tissue warning of some kind. UGH.

Yeah, omg, I'm so glad that it didn't make it into the final broadcast. There would have been... even more tears.

That confidential broke me all over again. Matt Smith being dorky and cute helped a bit. I'm glad they didn't go with the take where he breaks down when he says his last line, the actual take was heartbreaking enough.
And aww at David saying he found it hard filming his last scene with Billie in S2.

Matt Smith was very cute and dorky. UGH, STILL TOO SOON, THOUGH.

Yeah, David and Billie are so adorable with each other. I like to pretend that they are BFFs in real life.

BWAH! They would.

I also imagine RTD coming onto LJ and, like... writing Master/Doctor fanfiction under some really flamboyant pen name.
