emminent domain gone wrong

*choke*

I'd been following this case, a bit concerned, but I thought "no, there's no way they could rule in favor of the developer, they don't want to open that up."

They did.

WTF???? OH MY FRIGGIN GOD! I cannot believe that! Since when have we become an abolute dictartorship? I want to go live on the god damned moon. Maybe then I will be safe from this shit! I want to get Timmy to move far away, but his family is here, and he is more interested in staying close to them...GRRRR! I also admit that I would have a REALLY hard time moving away from my family too, but I will do it!

yup....the only way to escape it is to buy property off the power grid out in the middle of BFE that would be too inconvenient for the lazy asses to drive to so they will avoid building there....ridiculous ruling but sadly...not surprising.

I meant, our military interference in other nations, justified to the USofA public because "the dictator is opressing his people over there."

Hell, there are plenty of people being oppressed right here in this country!

One more echo. I think your family and ours must have been brought together as mirrors for each other.

You seem surprised...why? This has been a long time coming it barely escaped passing the last time. Although Justice Day O'Connor has held her ground throughout against it. It however was bound to go through because the taxation and revenue sought by state and city government...but it has little to do with "military interference", it is merely big business, taxation and revenue. Money the root of all evil as they say. Canada is looking better and better. Sad sad...

I've been thinking Australia...like Canada, only warmer, further away, and fewer people.

It's funny, I grew up in Western cattle country ("Trouble with your diet? Here's a trick, so try it. Montana Beef.") and the ranchers were always bellyaching about how the damn environmentalists were going to use emminent domain to take away their grazing rights. (I was always hazy on how they were going to do that without government support...I think it had something to do with The Nature Conservancy, but whatever.) Sort of ironic that it's the shopping malls that pose a problem, not the Nature Conservancy.

Hoping you don't mind, but I'm reposting this in my journal with credit given... my sentiment is pretty much the same as yours.

New Zealand sounds kind of nice...

I was talking with my Aussie friends last weekend about politics down under. They say the stupid changes are taking place there, too, but they're a few decades behind. On the other hand, New Zealand has some pretty good policies regarding the environment, globalization, corporate power, land ownership, and such.

Really? I would love to continue this conversation tonight, if you don't mind. I would like to hear more of your opinions, and more of what is going on in the world!
