Passions for things like travel and backpacking are just the ticket to the kind of not needing to be "important" or "accomplished." A good friend of mine has spent his whole life traveling and backpacking across the world, and he's feeling kind of frustrated right now that he doesn't have an "acomplishments" to show for his life. other people his age have families or carefully built careers, but he just has good stories and opinions. but i plan on writeing SEVERAL books about him, because he has had such an interesting life. i've told him over and over that his accomplishment may not be something obvious and flashy like being a CEO or a dad, but he has affected the lives of countless other people in ways, and they have probbaly done things they wouldn't have if he hadn't wandered into their lives ( ... )

Maybe you could write travel books? Or maybe you should just keep doing what you like. So many people know just what they want to do with their lives, and devote years to that. But my dad didn't get into architecture until his last semester of Undergraduate work. And he's done some wonderful things, he was even quoted in the Globe magazine in the Boston Globe this Sunday. So just do what you like.

heh, you gots lotsa comments to read.

anyhoo, i would just like to say that i am by no means passionate, or dilligent, and really the only thing i have going for me is a kind of natural luck in school, so if anything, im worse off than you are. and yet, the reason that i enjoy so much of life, even when things are teh shit, is because i dont worry about them. ive let go of all that, and if theres nothing bringing you down, nowhere to go but up. even if its for stupid reasons. its nice.
