I remember that was the first thing I said when Jack walked into that throne room: "What the hell happened to his hair?!" I feel like the blonde really adds to that dickish, aloof vibe he gives off in that second act, though. The brown hair makes him seem ... warmer? Somehow?

This series seems really interesting!

It did add to the 'prick' vibe, yeah. Of course, it doesn't help that Jack seems to have no idea how to go about explaining Wonderland to Alice- and who would?

The instructions had explained that his hair was an unusual color for this world, which would make the job of anyone searching for him that much easier. He was advised to keep it covered, and provided with a bowler cap for just such a purpose. There was no getting around it; it looked ridiculous on him. Most hats did; he simply didn't have the right shaped head for anything that didn't come with an exceptionally large brim. -- It's not unusual but I agree that the darker hair looks better.

It really did look better. The blonde just looked a bit too blonde. And shiney.
