Who can I apply for?
➥ All characters from fictional medias are accepted including: anime, manga, television, movie, book, comics, and video game characters. Historical figures are accepted as long as they are from a fictional media, such as Shakespeare from Shakespeare in Love. Animal characters are allowed, as long as they are sentient and can communicate in some form. Robot/Cyborg characters are also perfectly acceptable to be app'ed! We reserve the right to ask you to scale down the size of an animal character or a robot/cyborg character if they'd be too large for the setting. Gods and other deities are acceptable only if they're from a fictional source (such as Loki from the Prose Edda or from Marvel Comics).
Who can't I apply for?
➥ Historical figures (no George Washington to start a revolution, sorry), real people (no Paris Hilton here, why would you want to anyway?), gods from actual mythology, personifications of real world countries or objects, or fandom OC's that aren't from a medium where the player can create their own character. In other words we would not allow a fandom original character from Bleach but we would allow one from World of Warcraft where part of the game is creating your own character.
Do you allow multiples(two of the same character)?
➥ Yes, we do. We allow a potential total of 3 of the same character to be in play at one time. ONE OU (original universe) ONE AU (alternate universe) and ONE dead version of that character. We say potential because not every character has died in canon, dead characters only count if they did die in their canon.
What is the game's stance on AU's?
➥ For AU's we accept the following:
Canon AU's :: These are AU's that are from a particular canon. Such as the X-Men movies or the Ultimate X-Men line of comics. The female and male characters from Persona 3 and the Hawke's from Dragon Age II would also fall under this category. We would allow one OU version and one as an AU.
Fandom AU's :: These are fan created AU's. For these we require that there be a substantial difference between the canon character and the AU while still being recognizable as that character. We do not accept gender-bents. We will judge this on a case by case basis and we reserve the right to reject an application if we think there isn't enough difference between the AU and the OU to actually be able to call it an AU.

What about original characters or fandom OC's?
➥ We do accept both original characters (OC’s) and Fandom OC’s. Fandom OC’s may be from any medium where the player creates their own character, such as (but not limited to); Vampire: The Masquerade or World of Warcraft.
Do you accept application challenges?
➥ Yes, we do accept application challenges. This means that if someone has an application up for a character and you have one finished/almost finished and would like to apply for that same character, you're free to do so. We'll look at both applications and determine which one portrays the character best according to canon. This also means that if there is a reserve up for a character you can still put in an application for that character. Although, we won't look at your application and make a decision until the reserve application has come in.
What's the current character limit?
➥ The current starting limit is 5 characters. But if you've proven to be active and think you can handle more, you're free to request to add to that number! You may also play no more than 2 from each canon unless you're coming from a canon similar to Marvel or DC. Then you're free to discuss it with a mod.
Can we reuse samples from another application?
➥ Yes, you may reuse samples if you want for both the first person and the third person.
Can I transfer CR or Character Development from another roleplay?
➥ Absolutely! There are few stipulations, though.
In regards to Character Relationship transfer:
This is perfectly acceptable, but under very specific situations. If two players are applying at the same time and have previous CR from a past game, you may both transfer memories of the characters and situations RPed in the previous game. However, if you apply for a character from a previous game, and you had relationships with characters that are present in Underworld Wars but are played by different people, you cannot transfer your character's memories of those characters. In short, it has to be the same characters played by the same people.
In regards to Character Development:
Say you had a character for quite some time in another game and would like to transfer their growth along with the canon knowledge of the character. This is also perfectly fine, but needs to be defined in the "RP Character Development" section of the application. We don't need a play by play, but a reasonably detailed synopsis of development is required.

Do characters keep their powers? What about items?
➥ Yes, characters will keep their full powers. Characters can also keep any items that they have on their person upon their arrival. So if you have Materia you get to keep it, swords, you get to keep it, and so on.
I'm app'ing a character that is dead in their canon, what should I know?
➥ Then they'll come in “dead” with the same rules that would apply if they had died in the Underworld. They won't have a heartbeat, will be cold, and won't be thirsty or hungry.
What happens if my character dies in game?
➥ Now that Hades is dead, death rules have changed. It is possible for a character to die in the Underworld. Should this happen your character will be "dead" and thus unplayable for at least 24 hours. When that 24 hours are up they will come back to life. A character will wake up in the place they died (or wherever their body was carried to). Their awakening will be painful as their organs and systems start working again, jolting them back to life.
For one to two weeks a death penalty will be put on your character. This penalty will be worked out with the mods and can be anything from loss of one sense to loss of memories. Each consecutive death with have increasingly severe consequences. You must talk to a mod before killing a character off.
What if a character doesn't speak English?
➥ ➥ All people are given the ability to speak the same language, this happens without thought; it's as if suddenly everyone is speaking one common language. The actual language is a form of ancient Greek spoken in this realities Greece, so it's unique to the Underworld. If your character consciously thinks about speaking another language (or their native language) they will be able to speak in it and others (unless they also speak that language) will not be able to understand.
My character needs ____ to survive, how do I get it?
➥ Contact the mods! Depending on what it is we'll find a way to work to help you. It might involve making a deal with one of the gods to get whatever they need, or just being cured of whatever they have.
What if my character is a vampire and must drink blood?
➥ They're free to have at the NPC's! They're all dead, but they do have blood.
Can I update my character's canon point?
➥ Absolutely! Go here to read about canon updates! We only require three things from you in order to get a canon update: filling out the form on that page, taking your character out of game to go home for 24 hours, and letting the OOC community know. It's pretty simple!

How do people communicate?
➥ When they arrive in the Underworld they're given tablets. These tablets look similar to an ipad. As seen here. There's a pen attached to the tablet via a wire. The tablets can be used for audio, video, and text. It can also be used to share files, pictures, and entries and comments can be made private/locked if your character is capable of figuring out coding like that.
Is it possible to destroy the tablets?
➥ Nope, they're completely 100% indestructible.
How exactly does posting work?
➥ Similar to having a livejournal, your characters can post journal entries in the main community. These can be done in numerous ways: voice, text, and video are all acceptable.
What do you mean by all posts must be tagged?
➥ We request that you tag your posts in the main community with your character's tag. Posts are tagged !fandom: character name and comments are tagged fandom: character name.
Please do this for each post you make and each post you comment on. This will make activity checks run much more smoothly.

Where do people live?
➥ Anywhere they want. There will be little houses, flats above places that used to be shops, and big mansions.
Where does food come from?
➥ Basic necessities exist in the various homes, apartments, etc in which your characters are able to take up residence. The refrigerators and pantries come stocked with basic foods such as vegetables and rice and seem to never dwindle. It's probably best not to question where that food keeps coming from.
Food can also be found in the market area. The market area is a section of the Underworld where there are stalls and inside shops where just about anything you can think of can be found. The stalls and the shops are run by random NPC's that live in the Underworld.
Can I have my character open a business?
➥ Yes! We encourage people to start their own business! If you'd like to have a character open a business please go here and leave us a bit of information about the business so we can add it to the Locations page!
What is technology like?
➥ The Underworld is a mix of old technology and very new (2010-2011) technology. Some buildings have no power/water while others have running water, power, stoves, microwaves, and so on. Some have TV's with DVD players and some don't. It's up to you to decide what type of technology your character finds! We request it not be anything exceptionally advanced though or from time periods beyond 2011.
Are there NPC's in the city?
➥ Yes, there are NPC's in the Underworld, all of these NPC's are dead. They go about their daily life acting as if they were in some sort of twilight, simply going through the motions they're familiar with.
Can players run plots?
➥ Absolutely! We want to encourage anyone to run plots, just contact the mods first to get things set up. If you plan on doing anything that could affect the Underworld in general (such as massive destruction of the setting or having a large gathering) please contact us first!
✗ Activity Check ➥ Our AC is pretty lenient,you must have a combination of TWO of the following:
Threads of 10 or more comments, 10 comments total back and forth!
Posts with at least one Thread (A thread is 10 or more comments, back and forth)
Logs started or participated in (10 or more comments)
So, in other words, you can have the following:
2 threads (10 comments each)
2 Posts on the main community with threads (a thread is 10 comments)
1 Post and 1 Thread (10 comments long)
2 Logs (Starting or Participating with 10 replies)
1 Post with a thread and 1 Log
While posts filtered solely to one or two people are acceptable, they DO NOT count towards activity check.
Activity Check is preformed at the first of every month, you'll need to fill out a form linking to your two pieces of activity. You have three days to post your links, if they aren't posted, you'll be auto-removed.
If you can only provide 1/2 pieces of activity, you will have the option to reclaim the character and provide double activity for the next month. If you fail to provide double activity for the next month, you will be dropped from the game and must wait one activity cycle (one month) before you reapply for that character.
If you cannot provide any piece of activity, your character will be auto-dropped from the game. You are not allowed to reapply for the character for one activity cycle (one calendar month).
➥ After being accepted to the game, you have One Week to post to the Taken page and to post an In Character introduction in the Main Community. If you don't, we do reserve the right to remove your character from the game. Please, if there are extenuating circumstances that prevent you from being able to meet the One Week requirements, let us know! We are willing to make exceptions.
➥ A note: constantly barely meeting Activity will result in the mods contacting you. Our Activity is very lenient as is and character squatting like that isn't fair to anyone involved in the game. We'll contact you if we feel like this is getting to be a problem and give you one warning for the next Activity Check, if you don't go beyond the requirements for that Activity Check then you will be removed.
✗ Hiatus ➥ You're allowed to hiatus for up to two weeks without talking to a mod. If you think it's going to be more than that, please talk to us. It'll be a case-by-case thing.
If your hiatus is 2 weeks or longer you are exempt from Activity Check. But this can only be applied if you hiatus at least a week prior to Activity Check. This means that if you hiatus a week or a few days before Activity Check, you're still required to meet the Activity Check.
