Today was my last day of work at Kumon. Yay, the awkward times are over! And now I'm gonna have lots and lots of free time... Also, I'm gonna put in my two weeks at Target tomorrow. And my visa application is going to be in the works very soon. Slowly but surely getting ready to go to Japan. Weeeeeeird ( Read more... )

Is there no deodorant in Japan? LOL

Hmmm... I can't imagine what you would need to bring there that you can't get easily in Japan. Maybe get a haircut first, cause salons there might be expensive? And bring some food/snacks you might miss, but Japan is like a land of wonderful snacks heh heh heh~

They have loads of deodorant in Japan. Just none of the antiperspirant variety.

I think some stuff is just different too? Like, I was told to bring tampons, because I guess they're not as readily available in Japan as they are here in the States? And toothpaste apparently isn't as good? I'm not sure about all of this yet from my own experience, but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.

Apparently Japan doesn't have any kind of chocolate/peanut butter candy.

Hmm.. yeah actually peanut butter is not a big thing in Asia ^^;; We get imported Reese's here, which is pretty much it.

I've heard of Kuroshitsuji, but from some reeeally big yaoi loving otaku so that's the main reason I won't watch it, and Hetalia. That being said, they said it was good ( ... )

I recommend bringing toothpaste. The kind they sell in Japan don't contain fluoride, so your teeth don't get whiter/cleaner. If you use tampons then bring your own, if you use napkins Japan has a great selection. Japanese tampons tend to be smaller/less absorption than western ones. Also bras ecause Japanese people have boobs closer together and the bras are massively padded.

Anything you need later on and you forgot can be bought from online 'Costco' agents. Like from The Flying Pig - http://www.theflyingpig.com/tfp/Shop.ASP

I've heard that...I don't understand the point of toothpaste that doesn't have fluoride. *adds toothpaste to the list* Also, I might die without good tampons, so I will definitely be stocking up.

Thanks for the advice! :)

i don't think you really need to worry about toothpaste. i haven't had any problem in finding colgate or crest etc. with fluoride in them, though maybe this depends on the city you're in.

most of the things i find i miss are things i wouldn't have packed with me anyway. XD like good cheese and bread. my advice once you are IN japan, though, is to find the nearest 100yen store and try to do all your shopping thing. XD XD XD seriously, always check there first for daily necessities and things, because they'll usually have them for much cheaper (but usually same-ish quality)!

I love like all the songs you linked here. If you haven't already gone through all of Miura Daichi's stuff, I'd recommend Who's the Man and his Possibility duet with Boa :D

I've heard many good things about Kuroshitsuji, but all of the fans I've seen like to ship the butler with the little kid... and that kind of made me stay far away from it haha

Having seen most of the anime, I can see why people would do that...but yeah, no, haha.
