thank you. the text comes from a catch-up email i wrote to my friend ali: one of those letters where you try to sum up a big block of time and love into a couple of paragraphs. then i melted it down more for this journal entry and let pictures pick up a few parts. i do feel that disconnect ... which is no surprise: i'm not living in any one country but more so living in neither the US nor Germany ... and the one thing that was keeping me grounded in a routine--the teaching job--just ended. life isn't "bad", but, you know, it's been a while since i was this uncertain of basic information (where i will be living, job, company) in the near (next year) future. i suppose a positive way to look at it is that i am at a new beginning ... a clean slate. hmmm ... somehow though that seems too optimistic for the reality of the situation. well, hopefully i will hear from the german government soon and that will at least be a solid clue.

hi. and thank you. in the reply above i talk about where it came from. not that it matters so much, but there it is if you like "behind the scenes" stories. is that you in this icon? so nice. i love getting faces behind the journals, though i know i seldom post my own face. well ... except that my writing is mostly personal, so it's a type of face (a typed face, ha ha).

i also loves to get faces on others, but i am not sure i al so adjusted with getting to know my own face every darn morning... strange, i can never get used to it. but if you are happy i guess i am rather so too)))
