This is fantastic! I was a little confused in the beginning about whether or not Aziraphale and Crowley were an AU version or role-playing, but it was easy enough to work out. The twist was good and the characters well-drawn - I only wish it was longer! :P
I love it! I started making happy noises of glee as soon as I saw the header and basically continued throughout the entire story. That was absolutely what I was hoping for and more. Particular highlights...the opening in general with "the personality of fonts" and "I'll finish the story later...you never do" and the discomfort over the corruption charges.
"You figured out the witness was lying," Crowley said. Once again, Aziraphale couldn't guess at his tone. - Awww...
The poor books! Oh, I am right there with Aziraphale. I approve of their investigation and interactions with the other officers. Heheh, Thatcher.
Cartwright interrupted him halfway through his first question. "Are all you London sergeants bloody queens then?" he demanded. "Sergeant Arse-wipe and Sergeant Arse-Bandit."
Aziraphale paused mid-word and stared. "Excuse me?"
"Queens," Wainwright echoed, and giggled. "Maybe that's how they pass their exams, Andy. Take a final one on being gayer than a tree full of monkeys." - Yeah. Totally in character there

I am so very, very glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for the amazing prompt. As soon as I saw the Good Omens/Hot Fuzz idea, the entire plot of this sprang fully formed into my head (no, really), and I had you as my first choice for my recipient.
And it's good to know the character interactions worked for you. Both fandoms have such specific voices, so I was trying hard to capture all the characters. Especially Thatcher, who may have been my surprise favorite in the story. I cracked myself up writing her dialogue.
Once again, I am so glad you enjoyed this! It was tremendous fun to write. :)
Oh, what a perfect fandom to cross GO with! Hilarious! I loved it with all the details and the great character descriptions! Just wished there was more, much more of this!
I know, right? As soon as I saw hsavinien's prompt, I couldn't resist! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
(As for more, I might wind up doing more fic in the universe-- something with Adam bothering Aziraphale and Crowley at the Met in a prequel, maybe, or Adam and the rest of Them discussing what's to be done about Aziraphale and Crowley's situation, or a case Crowley and Aziraphale also got stuck together on, that sort of thing!)
Wow! I don't even have to know a thing about "Hot Fuzz" to pick up the gist of this; and the hints you drop about the apparent "case" of murders in the village are sprinkled just right through the narrative to give you all you need.
I too thought this was going to be an AU story, until the supernatural suddenly entered in the form of Irene Butterman. Then I was briefly at sea until Adam arrived and it began to look deliciously like the sudden reversal it turned out to be.
Audaciously pulled off and air tight reasoning. While I can't speak for the Hot Fuzz characters, they were colorful in the way a lot of BBC shows portray the police and it was both intriguing and ultimately poignant to see Aziraphale and Crowley continuing the balancing act of their relationship in human terms, and then especially to see Azriaphale bowing under the weight of the sudden return of 6,000 years of memory at once and his recognizing in hindsight Crowley's previous happiness in being out from under the burden of his Fall.
I am so glad you enjoyed this! It was tremendous fun to write, as well as a bit of a challenge-- both fandoms have very distinct voices.
You mentioned exactly what I was trying to accomplish with Aziraphale and Crowley's "human" relationship as well as Crowley's happiness as a human, so that's great to hear that all came across in the story and that it worked for you. :)
(Also, "Hot Fuzz" is a movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost that lovingly parodies cop movies. It is quite fun, although a bit gory at times. If you enjoy cop movies at all, I heartily recommend it.)

I had a feeling that there was something weird going on with Aziraphale and Crowley, but not what it was, and then it got fixed!
And Aziraphale's horror at the disorganized library :) And Crowley not quite being able to handle his emotions. Well done!
