Cake with no calories!

I need to be honest here. Getting spoiled is new to me, but I could definitely get used to it!
Okay maybe not. I love it, I appreciate it beyond anything else, but I would never in the world expect it.

Thank-you Mum and Dad!

Now for the goodies!

My current project is a super soft scarf for my girlfriend. It's going to be all sorts of random colors because I have tons of little balls of yarn to use up and she'll find it amusing. My on going project is a blanket for Geo that I would really like to have finished by Christmas BUT I know that's not going to happen. Projects I'd like to make? I'd love to crochet a Jesus or two (because I'm a blasphemous whore lol)

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a yarn cake and why is is better to use than a ball?

Yarn cake is the cylindrical "cake" on the winder (and in the Berroco picture on the left.) it's just the shape that the winder makes when you wind from a swift.
A swift is pretty much essential to your sanity if you want to work from skanks otherwise it's hell in a hand basket to try and wind it by hand without getting a jumbled tangled mess.

I can't wait to see the scarf! I made a jumbled colour patch scarf during the last election (to calm my nerves as I watched results all day) and I love it, it's super long and random and made of fun. I bet yours is going to be super cute.

Oh PS
The cakes rock because the ball I wound by hand wasn't center pull, so it rolls all over the place. Cakes have a center pull so they feed really nice :)

I am making something for ME! I got some merino-angora to make the side slip cloche from the cover of Boutique Knits!

Hey there kiddo... you are welcome and I hope you enjoy the treats.
But with our anniversary coming and Christmas 'round the corner, I'm hoping that the parcel train rolls both ways!

Shameless huh?

Love, Mum

Hehehe I actually work on Knits, KnitScene, and Crochet, so you'll see my name in any of those issues. It's kind of weird. :)
