ljgate; couple of greasemonkey recs

Nov 26, 2008 09:43

What is ljgate? "If you have problems with access to livejournal.com, use this service!... Please note: Your password is never stored at our servers!" I'm there, and so are you. I have no idea if it caches or not, or how it affects your inclusion in search engines.

I should do an updated " how I've tricked out my lj" post, but I don't even know ( Read more... )

lj, questions, computers are our friends, recs: software & web tools & sites, recs: communities

*clings clings clingggggggggs* Hey you. You know what I think about just about every time I open the veggie bin in the fridge? "It's like saying eggplants aren't eggs!" And then I chortle. To myself.

One of these days I am going to start watching Merlin. I would like a new cracktastic fandom.

I think ljgate is a workaround for if your workplace or school has banned lj access from their computers, from a href="http://66.102.9.132/search?q=cache:zIHlmJJmjdYJ:www.createblog.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t101079.html+ljgate&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=45&client=safari">this... I was wondering how it would get around being banned by lj, but it looks like banned FROM instead. Looks like it's been around for a while, by the timestamp there.

Wow, why have I never heard of it before? And if it's been around for as long as I've been here, maybe there's no more danger of cacheing than ever there was. Not that they're, you know, FORTHCOMING WITH INFORMATION or anything. *huffy*

Hi.

The ljwho username annotation script is broken, is still broken, has been broken since Firefox 3, and the author hasn't yet been able to fix it. I don't know how to use LJ without it; I can't remember who anybody is; I am wandering in the wilderness. It is sad when the universe does not bend to my wishes.
I think I might know of a sort-of solution to this one. The latest version of ljaddons has something similar called Tips for LJ-users. You right-click on the little username icon and in the context menu there should be an option for "Add/edit user tip" and then you click on it and a dialog box comes up where you can type in whatever you want. The next time you hover your mouse over that person's username icon, whatever you wrote will show up as a tooltip. Obviously an updated/fixed version of ljwho would be better; having to relabel everyone is pretty tedious. But at least it's something for now, you know?

NO WAY. alkjsflkajf That is awesome. LJaddons updates with new stuff so often, I can't keep up with it.

I will check it out, thank you!
