The Square Legacy: Chapter 37

Apr 26, 2015 13:26

For whatever reason, I've been sort of confused as to the numbering of the Square chapters. I think it's because of my abrupt two-month hiatus and a lot of memory-repression.

But who cares? It's time for...

~ ~ ~

Last time, on the Square Legacy...

~ ~ ~

Faris was rather unceremoniously dropped out of the ship, landing hard on her keys. Yowch! She also had a weird throbbing in her uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you know what who cares where she was throbbing? That's private.

Otherwise she was relatively unharmed.

Also she thought that this was the coolest thing ever! Aliens had abducted her? How sweet was that?! She thought of her half-brother Bartz and wondered if her dad might want to hear the whole abduction news. Then again, that had always been sort of a sore subject for Kain... and now Faris could understand why!

But, life continued on as normal. Well--as normally as it could for any Square. Or any sim, for that matter. Holy crap The Sims is weird.

Anyway, she was still quite fond of Art, to the point that they were dating quite frequently. Art might have been about fifteen years older than Faris, but the two got along swimmingly. Art made Faris happy, and Faris? Well...

Faris made Art glow. Uh, literally.

"Uhhhhhh so Art!" Faris said. "You do realize that you're glowing pink? Is that normal?"

"Of course it is, my sweet bag of heat-producing organs," said Art. "In spite of my disguise my skin still radiates my mood. Isn't that great? We're like mood rings, we aliens."

Aliens? We aliens?! Mood rings?!?!?!?!

So Art.......was an alien.

Now he was speaking her language!

Faris loved aliens. Absolutely loved them. Sure, it was weird actually being abducted, but it was still pretty cool! And now she could brag to her aliens forum that she was dating one.

But why stop at dating, really?

She immediately proposed to him. Duh. This was the opportunity of a lifetime--she wasn't going to squander it!

Art accepted her proposal, if only because he had always been sort of curious about human mating rituals and the strange bond known as marriage. When he'd been a larva he had wondered just what it meant to be forever bonded to only one person like that.

Thus, this was also not an opportunity that he wanted to waste.

Somehow I missed taking any real pictures of it, but the two eloped right there and then in the park. How sweet.

And yes, Art actually is an alien. This is him without his disguise. I was so pleased to find out he was this lovely shade of blue--the only other alien I've encountered in Get to Work so far has been the standard green. Also you can't see it from here but he has a rather lovely aquiline nose! Stop playing to my preferred nose types, TS4, I feel like you're manipulating me >:-C

The pair quickly and easily fell into married life. In spite of the novelty both of them were facing they were actually both pretty chill about the, uh... would you call this a mixed marriage? I think inter-species relationships count, don't they?

I knew Art would probably want to keep up the charade so I had him switch back into his disguise... only to discover that he did not have the same disguise, now. Sure, he has the same facial hair and hairstyle, but I don't think he was some vaguely Asian-looking guy before, was he?

And perhaps because of her knowing the deeply-kept and jealously guarded secret of Art's true identity, poor Faris got abducted again. Girl just can't catch a break. But this is something that she and her dad have in common, so I was actually pretty amused the entire time this happened to her.

Even so, it was still pretty annoying to be constantly abducted by aliens. Faris confronted her husband about it, asking whether or not there was any connection between their marriage and her being probed.

"Who knows?" Art said. "I was never part of any abduction projects. Only recon."

"So...?"

"So I truly do not know, Faris. Hey, how do you feel about having your brains scrambled?"

"What?"

"I... what were we just talking about, honey?"

"Nothing, my sweet. You were only asking me what size pool would be best for our substantial backyard."

"Oh--yeah, sure. Okay."

~ ~ ~

A few weeks after the second abduction, Faris began to feel a bit... queasy. She knew that alien probes didn't impregnate women... but she was pretty sure her uterus had been invaded by an entirely different alien individual, anyway.

See? Look at that bump!

"Okay, Art, I have some pretty big news and I think you're going to love it," she said, so excited that her words sort of ran together.

"I'm pregnant!"

"What? How did this happen?" Art demanded. "Were you probed by a pollination unit behind my back?"

"No, Art! It's our baby. Sheesh. What do you think all that woohoo did, anyway?"

"....Oh."

Well... Art supposed that wasn't bad news. It was pretty good news, actually!

And the scientist in him knew it would be interesting to see what sort of offspring he produced with a human woman. Never mind that he had switched jobs to astronaut, if only because one active career is hectic enough for one simmer to handle.

And so life went on.

Faris continued to put the majority of her energy into her work, in spite of the rapidly-growing alien spawn currently inhabiting her womb. Or more likely she worked because of that baby; she wanted to be able to provide for her children, after all.

Of course, in spite of her schedule, she was not spared from the occasional pregnancy-induced backache.

But look at how big her belly is! And she's so cute in the scientist uniform, too :->

She and Art continued to be fairly domestic, though she was a little miffed that he was always so happy while she was going through a mildly uncomfortable pregnancy. Oh, well. He was an alien, she reminded herself; and besides he was never that good at sympathizing with people, anyway. In her moodier moments Faris found herself comparing Art to her brother Gilgamesh, if only because the two of them seemed rather inclined to being a bit... off.

There might not be any actual maternity leave in TS4, but she was able to take family time off during her last trimester. Thank goodness--she had to pee and eat and sleep all the time. She wasn't sure if she could handle all that and work at the same time!

That was okay. Art was still hard at work as a... technician or... something. I can't say I remember what he was at this point :-/

Faris used her day off to keep in shape and to show off how adorable she was in her bikini.

Later that night, while Faris was feeling particularly pleased with herself (for whatever reason), she decided to partake of some congratulatory yogurt. I think???

It was at that moment that Art came whipping around the corner.

"Faris!" he said. "You're in labor!"

Well, Faris knew that, but she was more concerned with how disgusting the kitchen seemed to have gotten in the last five seconds. Was this really an environment that a baby should grow up in? Oh, who cares, it's the Sims, the only way that kid will get taken away is if you actively neglect it.

Faris decided to take a nap while waiting for her little bundle of joy to come screaming into the world.

She came sparkling, instead.

It was a girl! A little blue half-alien girl!

They called her Terra, which was sort of appropriate, given both Terras' origins.

Faris hugged her newborn daughter close. She was so happy to be a mother, and she wished she could tell her parents all about it. Alas, they were in another save file, safely tucked away in the documents folder of a slowly failing laptop.

Such is life, I suppose.

And that, as they say, is that; another chapter come to a close. I was very pleased to find out Art's little secret, readers, as you can imagine.

See you next Sunday!
