Loss, Remorse, and Hope

Earlier today, I finished one of H. P. Lovecraft’s lengthier works, I daresay long enough to be considered a novella, entitled “The Whisperer in Darkness.” The horrors about which Lovecraft wrote in the story were, to me, dwarfed by a kind of resentful sadness that his description of the setting evoked in me. They will grow back if we let them. Mother nature will not aboandon us. That is the only thought that keep me sane when I see the perpetual destruction and death here where the cardboard houses go up like dominos.

It took me a while to find this post. I hadn't read it before, but someone was talking with me about it, because they couldn't figure out what you're talking about. There's countryside for miles. There's more magic(k) in these hills than anywhere in the world. More ghost sightings occur in Vermont than any other state because of its lack of huge, astral-disturbing lights and cities. Before you get up in arms about VT being nothing more than a glorified parkinglot, maybe you should take a look around... Or maybe it makes you feel better to leave with that misconception in your brain. You have an easier time leaving someone/thing/place when you're convinced you didn't want it anyway.
