This... holy shit, this. You can't believe how upset I am that I didn't find this story a year ago, because I'm still amazed that I can even form complete sentences after all that. Dean/OMC is a definite guilty pleasure of mine, but you just wrote it so fucking perfectly, not to mention how heartbroken I am right now. The Cas cameo was particularly lovely, in all its mystery and brevity. Bravo.

I have read this one about five times, courtesy of the wonderful PDF file, and love it more each time. A truly wonderful OMC, real and immediate, and the characterization of the canonical figures is spot on.

Dean/OMC, I would never have thought I would care for it but you made me. I sat sobbing in the doctor's waiting room; the others must have thought it was *very* bad news.

This is a lovely story which moved me and holds up over time so well. I am now going to mow through your backfile. :-)

The *true* dark side is RPF/RPS....I swore I would never read that because, just ew. And then I found a good story and then, well you know about the paving of the road. I am a sucker for good writing of any flavor.

You capture the returned vet really well. We have several in our family and you have done a great job of showing how there are forever a few rough edges that never quite fit back in, even years and years later, but without judging. Kudos.

I'm really glad that I did capture the returned vet well--I have quite a few friends who've been in the military, but they're all quite a bit younger than my OC here.
