If I had the power to do so, I would make at least 90% of the world gay ( Read more... )

I think your descriptions are more apt if you would be applying them to bisexual men. I find those that call themselves gay to be pretty much the exact same as those who call themselves straight. They just exclusively involve themselves with men.

I think that gay men are more likely to be from your Group II (http://www.livejournal.com/users/eurisko97/204582.html) than are straight men.
Much less to be reactive and more likely to be proactive, and thinking (about things other than baseball stats and NASCAR).
Which reminds me - I never commented on that particular post of yours. Time to remedy that now :)

I kind of figured that it's pretty easy to find gay men, and they're less than 10% of the population. Similarly, I surmised, it would be easy to find a straight woman in a 90% gay world (because, you see, I want to leave ME as bi).
:)
Yes, gay men are usually more mature, for obvious reasons...

I love P-Town! I was just up there last month. It's beautiful and....colorful? I bought so many stickers and pins, mostly pride( even thou i have a boyfriend) and anti-bush. but it was just a great town with gorgeous housing. My favorite shop = Spank the monkey, just for the great name.

Haha!
Spank the Monkey is fun, and their sister store sells all kinds of cheap but cool sex stuff upstairs.
The drawing on the store is REALLY funny!

Yeah, I know exactly which store you mean.

I love the drawing. I took a pretty cool picture of it, and put it into a collage in my room.

i like your idea. and i must say that i agree with it. all we have to do is raid every hospital this side of the mississippi and as soon as a baby boy pops out of its mother we force feed it gay lit, cook books and ken dolls. i think the world will be in for a treat!!

Nice Idea... jacqula July 22 2004, 15:47:45 UTC
But unfortunately you can't create or make gay! It's a blessing that has to be bestowed upon you before you even fly outta your Mamma. Nice idea though.

It would be very interesting to see what straight babies, raised as you've suggested would turn out like.

Keep up the forward thinking. It's great minds that think outside the box. (hee - ok there really was no pun intended).

There is much argument about nature .vs. nurture.
I believe nature contributes a large part of our sexual identity and preference, but I believe that only when one is nurtured and cultivated well (= NOT brainwashed or pressured) can one's true sexual identity emerge.
Which is why, in freer societies, you have many more gay people than in autocratic or oppressive societies.

Hello! We don't know each other (I found you through smilie176's journal), but have you seen Queer by Choice dot com?

I suspect that we often underestimate the role of the interaction between 'nature' and 'nurture' (the geneticists seem to be into this angle, too, nowadays) and that is the key to understanding.

That's awesome...
I go to Church St. in Toronto, the gay distrct, all the time and LOVE it. Everyone is so kind and social and no one comments on my tits or ass! Well, a few girls, but for some reason that doesn't offend me. I guess because they have them, too, so they're not objectifying me for having them.
Anyways, the gay men that I know and the few gay women are all very open minded and liberal. Even though sexually I'm straight I define myself as Queer because in every other way i identify with these people, and I certainly don't define myself as 'conventional' sexually.
The world would be a better place if we were all more 'queer'

I surfed into this journal from ma_pagan_pages and find this comment: "Even though sexually I'm straight I define myself as Queer because in every other way i identify with these people" to be my fascinating thought of the day. I am going to have to ponder this at length. This is really quite an interesting concept...I wonder if the word queer will continue to evolve in such a way as to incorporate this aspect?

when I first heard the definintion of 'Queer' to be 'anyone who doesn't idenity with what society deems as 'normal' sexuality' I thought 'ok, i sleep with men, but I still encompass myself into that definition'

I like the your definition of "queer". A lot :)

I think you don't mind girls commenting on your "tits and ass" because there is probably less mindlessly salaciousness behind their comment, and they are meant as a COMPLIMENT, not as a derogatory objectification.
There is DEFINITELY less danger there - a girl is not very likely to follow such comments with aggressive or criminal bahavior...
