Exercise is my antidepressant of choice

No joke. For about 36 hours after running a mile, or interval training for 20 minutes, I get a mood boost + calm. It settles me, makes me more quietly energized, and erases a lot of cruft. Add in a good weights element and I come out feeling strong, which totally ups my confidence. It works better than when I was on prozac, which provided a floor ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh, totally. I'm lazy and don't work out as often as I should, but when I do, there's that really calm happiness were your mind and your body just feels right. That's some good stuff right there. And cheaper than medication, I imagine.

more effective than medication, at any rate. actually, with gym fees it's a bit more expensive, but the fees make it possible to go frequently, reducing the barrier to entry.

When I go, it just makes the day much better.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. I usually feel better after a session a the gym.
