Okay, guys, here's the thing. I've got to get some original work done or I'm...in trouble. With several people who keep me on task. The problem is, I've only got so many ideas lined up that I can fall back on (to be precise...two.) So I've decided to break open my notebook of random quotes and scraps of lines that I've just been collecting and post

"the man urged by dreams to have a club of shadow on some trip"
"Wasted but Wanted"
all seem to combine to me. Makes me think Don Quixote for some reason.
I'm seeing a person pursuing something that's long gone-by, something anachronistic and impossible, because of dissatisfaction with the way things are now. The cynical idealist, so to speak. And there's another character, younger but wiser, who cares about him, maybe a sidekick, tries to nudge him towards something more fruitful and less wasteful of his talent. But Character is so caught up in his quest that he can't get out, really, and I don't know how it ends. It could be tragic.

It would be tragic. Have you ever known me to write anything happy? LOL But I like the idea. I KNEW YOU WOULD HAVE SOMETHING

HAHA! Just like to point out that I said this in Psych one day. <3
-drowning in the sky/drowning in grass
"Lying on your back looking up at the sky in a field, either drowning in grass or about to fall into the sky."

You know, the "They're just words; they don't control us. Not anymore." line reminded me of Dane Cook too, you know, like how after he says one of his messed up words like 'electroshadowcamelmorphous,' or something like that, he'll go 'words don't control us, they're just words.' And everyone cheers and I'm watching the youtube clip going, '...cheers are default, ne?' But he's funny, usually. XDD
That line reminded me of Space Dementia. XDD
IT WAS NEIL GAIMAN, I felt bad and looked it up.
Ehh? YOu got in troble? But it's NEXT YEAR, your english teacher seems really anal. But she's cool if she encourages you keep writing. ZOMG, it's so cool that you are gonna continue writing in college! (I'm assuming...)

LOL yeah, I went and found the book that line came from on my sister's shelf as soon as you said that...
Yeah, I got in trouble. Because my teacher is pregnant (and thus, psychotic. But shhhhh, I didn't say that) she has random mood swings and I guess she found a really old draft of something I wrote and decided to confront me. But yessssssssssss I plan to continue in college (while studying in something that will actually make me money ;) and then hopefully one day I'll be able to publish something, BECAUSE EVER SINCE THE 4TH GRADE I WANTED TO BE A WRITER! *strikes heroic pose*

It's a sad yet beautiful story with a powerful message.
there's a whole world that we miss because we don't have the imagination to see it Sounds like it could be some fantasy/science fiction tale where children can only experience this world and when the grow up, they can no longer do as they used to (LOL...Peter Pan-ish?)
hearing trains at night--the people in them, where are they going? Supernatural ghost story that is meant to have the main character take a journey, but ends up as being a personal journey?
confluence LOL...I think of laboratory-grown cells.
They're just words; they don't control us. Not anymore Futuristic setting where ( ... )
