"I wish you didn't have to go," Alex sighed. This town must be getting to her; she didn't usually state the obvious like that. "I mean, I'm not ... gonna beg you to stay or anything. Your whole life is back in New York. I just ... hate saying good-bye."

Her bag was packed and sitting by the door.

"Doesn't really have to be goodbye," Liv pointed out. "I know where you are now. When things are slow a visit now and then could happen."

And... when were things ever slow at SVU?

"Yeah," Alex agreed. "Whenever you get a weekend to yourself."

Which they both knew was damn near impossible.

"I'd offer to make the trip myself, but ..."

New York. Off-limits. Fucking hell.

"You can't leave this island," Olivia said in a sympathetic tone. "No way. Not until it's completely safe for you. Or when they come up with another series. When this is all over, then you can come back."

She gave a little sigh and brushed some hair out of her face. "At least it's not a complete mystery where you disappeared too. And there's a way to contact each other. Right?"

"So long as we're careful," she agreed. "If they catch you making frequent visits here, they'll know something's up."
