I don't know that the constant avoidance of pain or emotion makes you a stronger person. That is not to imply that you are not strong, quite the opposite in my opinion, just that you're better off taking life as it comes and if need me absorbing as well as dishing out the punches. You'll be the better for it.
Im the exact opposite of you in that sense. I've always liked the contemplation of pain so much the case that I seem to have erected it into a duty. I shall have to stop that but that's hard, especially when I write, because pain and addressing it is a cathartic experience for me
I don't usually careen through life on an emotional autopilot - quite the opposite actually. Its just that I usually do not allow my emotions to rule my life or be the basis for decisions.
However, last week I had no emotions about anything whatsoever and it was really strange... and not at all the heaven I anticipated.
I suppose its really all about balance. And trying to find that balance is where the difficulty lies...
