 Chapter 7

The art students, including Jaejoong, waited for their names to be called by their professor. It was time to decide what to draw for their next project. They had spent two weeks on Action and Gesture Drawing, and today, they’re finally going to get to the real business.

Jaejoong flipped the papers in his sketchbook, scanning the drawings he had sketched of random people and objects. His eyes stopped upon one drawing. It was the most detailed out of the many and he believed it was the prettiest; however, it was the hardest at the same time. He took a long drag of air when he heard his name being called.

“So Jaejoong-shi, what do you have to show me?” The professor asked, hand in the air and eyes glued on his sketchbook.

“Oh, here,” He handed her his sketchbook. “I’ve been drawing a lot of things and honestly I still don’t know what I want to do for this project.” He confessed, crossing his fingers on his lap.

“Hmm,” Ms. Cha hummed as she flipped through the pages. “You have interesting things here,” She stopped on a particular drawing. “Oh? Jaejoong-shi, this is very beautiful.”

Jaejoong smiled, nodding his head. “It’s just a sketch.”

“A beautifully drawn sketch. Jaejoong-shi,” She tilted her head, smiled and handed him back his sketchbook. “I think you know what to do for this project.”

“But…”

“But,” she cut him off. “Remember this painting is worth forty percent of your final mark.” She smiled again.

Jaejoong sighed, lips pursed in a pout as he thought about his professor’s words.

“Still not sure?” Ms. Cha asked.

Jaejoong shook his head.

“Then I’ll tell you what you’ll do. You’ll draw this, and you’ll do a great job drawing it.”

Jaejoong stared at the drawing of Yunho’s face and sighed. He had to agree, the movement was very clear in the drawing and he knew that if he put his all in this then he could do a great job.

“Okay.” He ended up saying, shoulders sagging.

“Don’t show me that face,” She joked, hand running through her hair. “You know you can do it. You’re talented.”

Jaejoong chuckled in embarrassment. “Thank you.” He stood and went back to his seat. Sighing, Jaejoong buried his face in his palms and stared at the drawing again.

“I can do this.” He told him.

His phone vibrated in his pocket.

From: Yunho :3
Are you free tonight?

Jaejoong eyed his sketchbook and then his professor. He let his fingers move on his phone’s keyboard before pressing the send button.

To: Yunho :3
Yup, why?

The corner of his lips quirked up in a smile, because seriously, the answer was obvious.

Basketball practice was over and the boys dragged their bodies out of the court. Changmin sighed, lying on a bench in the changing room after he changed into clean clothes.

“That was a long sigh.” Yunho commented, sitting on the edge of the same bench to fix the laces of his shoes.

“I’m going shopping.” Changmin replied, eyes closed.

A single eyebrow was raised. “You hate shopping.” Yunho stated.

“I do, but Chun loves it. Besides, we’re buying Christmas presents.” Changmin pulled his body into a sitting position.

“Isn’t it a little bit early for Christmas shopping?"

“Not according to Yoochun. He says the earlier the better, especially that we still have money.”

His roommate chuckled. “He’s right about the money part. But,” He patted Changmin’s shoulder, “good luck.”

Changmin snorted, punching Yunho’s shoulder playfully as he stood up. “For your information, Jaejoong hyung is much much much worse than Yoochun,” He hopped on his feet. “So good luck with that.”

Yunho watched his friend walk away and then shrugged. He wouldn’t mind going shopping with Jaejoong any time of the day. He smiled about the possibility of going shopping for Christmas presents with Jaejoong. He would eventually have to buy him one too. What present could he buy for Jaejoong? He still didn’t know him very well to know what to get him. But they weren’t even officially dating, so he couldn’t call himself Jaejoong’s boyfriend just yet.

Yunho shook his head. He wasn’t going to get into asking unanswered questions or get himself depressed before anything happened. Pulling himself back to the present, he smiled to himself, because boys and girls, he actually had a date with Jaejoong.

The smile on his face was so bright and he was so happy to notice the smirks everyone in his team was throwing at him. They whispered that he’s finally dating; probably getting laid, but no one actually said it to his face. Though, they didn’t know that the happiness radiating from their captain was nothing but a mere fraction of what he felt inside. Truth be told, Yunho never thought that he would manage to convince Jaejoong to go out with him again by a simple text. He just asked him to meet in front of his dorm and Jaejoong had replied with a positive answer.

From: Jae~joong <3
Ok, will meet you there ^^

Yunho couldn’t really think of anything at that moment, including where to take Jaejoong on this unplanned date. He thought that he’d figure it out once he saw the other man. Yunho walked fast, hopping to see Jaejoong in front of his dorm.

And he was.

Outside the building, the art student was resting his weight on his knees, a smile on his face as he caressed the puppy’s fur. One of the students in the dorm was standing beside Jaejoong and smiling down as the other played with the puppy. Yunho believed that the guy meant to take Typhoon for a walk.

Watching from a small distance, Yunho smiled as the dog leaned into Jaejoong’s touch and wiggled his tail in happiness. An idea popped in Yunho’s head and he found himself grinning brilliantly.

“I’ll take that from here.” Yunho told his friend.

“Alright, but I already fed him.” He informed Yunho before going inside the building.

“Hi.” Yunho greeted, sitting next to Jaejoong.

“Hi.” Jaejoong replied with a small smile.

“He likes you.” The taller man said, hand running over Typhoon’s back.

“That’s a first,” Jaejoong chuckled, pulling the little dog’s face closer to his and ruffling his fur. “He grew so much in a couple of weeks.” The puppy barked but walked closer to him, nuzzling his face and making Jaejoong laugh in amusement.

“I was going to walk him around, wanna join?” Yunho asked.

“Really?” Jaejoong questioned, giggling as Typhoon licked his cheek. “Ok, that’s it little boy,” He patted the puppy’s head and straightened up. “Shall we go?”

The smile on Yunho’s face stretched and remained plastered where it was. He put the collar around Typhoon’s neck and gently tugged him forward. The little dog took a spin around Jaejoong’s legs before barking and walking in front of them.

“He’s really cute.” Jaejoong commented with a smile.

“Right? Everyone loves him. He’s a good boy.” Yunho replied proudly.

After minutes of walking, Jaejoong rubbed his hands together before stuffing them in his pockets. “It’s so cold, you think it’s gonna snow?” He asked, looking at Yunho.

“It’s possible. I even think it’s weird it hadn’t snowed yet.” He replied, blowing air into his palms and bringing his scarf higher to cover his mouth. He started to regret going out in this cold. “Ok, I’m really sorry.” Yunho awkwardly laughed.

“What for?”

“A walk in this weather wasn’t the best idea.”

Jaejoong laughed. He shook his head. “It’s ok, Typhoon is enjoying it.”

“What about you?” Yunho halted his steps, making the dog halt with him and sit on the cold pavement.

Jaejoong stared at Yunho for a few seconds before letting a small smile crave his face. “I don’t mind.”

The answer made Yunho’s heart race in his chest. “Say Jaejoong,” He met the other’s eyes, “Do you like video games?”

This room is so nice, Jaejoong thought as he looked around Yunho’s dorm room. He twisted his lips, trying to figure out where to sit.

“You can sit on the bed,”

Jaejoong widened his eyes.

“Or just on the chair.” Yunho quickly corrected.

Jaejoong nodded, suddenly feeling nervous. He took off his jacket and dropped it on the back of the chair.

“I’ll take that.” Yunho said, taking Jaejoong’s jacket.

Smiling nervously, Jaejoong stuffed his hands in his pants back pockets and looked around the room. It was definitely bigger than his. There were two beds, two desks and two closets; the typical stuff in every room. On the wall facing the beds hung a flat screen TV. Jaejoong eyed it with envy although he and Yoochun didn’t really like watching TV. On top of one bed hung a few posters of famous basketball players, the other bed had nothing decorating it. He wondered which one belonged to Yunho.

“Oh?” Jaejoong creased his eyebrows as he found something that looked like Yoochun’s scarf on one of the beds. He took the scarf in his hand. “Whose scarf is this?”

“It’s not mine, so it must be Changmin’s,” Yunho shrugged. “FIFA or Mortal Combat?” He raised two video games in front of Jaejoong.

“Wait, what?” Jaejoong’s eyes narrowed on the scarf. “Are you telling me Changmin is your roommate?”

Yunho blinked. “You didn’t know?”

“No, I didn’t.” He threw the scarf on the bed. “So Yoochun knew that you were Changmin’s roommate?”

“Pretty much yes,” Yunho blinked. “Wait!” He chuckled. “I didn’t know you were Yoochun’s roommate either before you told me!” The laugh erupting from his mouth held so much disbelief. “Wow! Those two bitches were having fun watching me cru…”

Yunho stopped midsentence, staring at Jaejoong. “I mean…”

“I think I know what you mean,” Jaejoong nodded his head. “They were having fun watching us. It’s like a drama to them. Entertainment.”

Clearing his throat, Yunho nodded in agreement as he shifted the video games from one hand to the other. Jaejoong didn’t need to know that he was crushing on him for almost a whole year; he definitely shouldn’t know. If he thought Yoochun and Changmin were taking them as amusement tool, then so be it.

“Mmm, yes that must be it.” Yunho said, laughing awkwardly. “So, FIFA or Mortal Combat?”

Jaejoong let out a long sigh, before pointing at the video games. “I’m clueless in football, but I can kick your ass in Mortal Combat,”

“I figured.” Yunho replied, suppressing a sigh of relief that Jaejoong let the matter go. He pulled out the play station from his desk drawer and after minutes they were finally playing.

Jaejoong couldn’t remember when the last time he played video games, but he could clearly remember that if you pressed L1 with the X button, you would get a special move that would kill your opponent’s life line.

“What the? How did you do that? Shit, take this.” Yunho bit his tongue as he concentrated on beating Jaejoong up. He had already gotten so excited that he was sitting on his knees, on his bed. “What the fuck? I clearly pressed L2, this thing is not working. That’s cheating.”

“Oh shut up. Ouch! Yes, learn from the master.”

Yunho laughed, pressing his hands randomly on the remote control. The room was filled with their argument, the groans of the players in the game and their hands abusing the buttons of the controllers.

“YES!” Jaejoong raised his arms in the air when he won for the third time. “God, you suck.”

“That’s not fair, alright? There is definitely something wrong with my controller.”

“Oh come on Yunho, just admit that you lost.”

Yunho stood in front of Jaejoong, hands on his hips. “Let’s exchange controllers.” He thrust his controller to Jaejoong.

“Don’t want.” Jaejoong pulled the controller behind his back.

“See! You’re just afraid that I will beat you. Give me that.”

Yunho tried to snatch the controller from Jaejoong’s hand, but Jaejoong tried to escape.

“Stop that,” Jaejoong laughed, raising the controller above his head. Yunho was taller, so he managed to hold Jaejoong’s hand and tried to pull the controller away. “No, you cheater.” Jaejoong tried to protest, jumping to free his hand from Yunho’s grip.

“Give me tha-woooah”

Jaejoong stumbled on something on the floor, only to find himself falling. He closed his eyes ready to receive the hard impact of hitting the floor, but his back hit something soft. He opened his eyes instantly and then froze. Yunho’s face was mere centimeters away from his face and his hands rested on both sides of his head.

The art student stared at Yunho’s eyes, noticing how shiny they were up-close. Heart beating unusually fast, Jaejoong’s hands gripped the sheets underneath him. A few strands of Yunho’s hair fell down and kissed Jaejoong’s cheeks and it was the first time that he noticed how long Yunho’s hair was. He watched as Yunho’s eyes traveled from his eyes down to his lips and he unconsciously licked his lips.

“Can I…” Yunho said in a soft voice.

Jaejoong quirked his eyebrows.

“Can I kiss you?”

“W-what?”

Without waiting for an answer, Yunho closed the gap between them. Jaejoong’s eyes fluttered shut, hands clenching the bed sheets tighter as Yunho’s lips pressed against his. His heart had started to beat so fast before his brain could grasp what was going on until he was kissing Yunho back.

Million voices screamed in his head, ordering him to wake up and stop what he was doing, but his body and heart had other plans.

Jaejoong’s hand flew to catch Yunho’s arm, squeezing it as tightly as his eyes were squeezing shut. Yunho’s lips moved against his ever so gently. Pressing lightly, nibbling his upper lip before capturing his mouth in a full mouth to mouth kiss.

Jaejoong didn’t know how long they kissed, but when his brain registered it, he pulled back and pushed Yunho away. His eyes were still closed, he was in such an emotional mess to be able to open them and meet Yunho’s eyes.

What was that?

Why did he allow Yunho to kiss him again?

Why did he even kiss him back?

God, did he actually like Yunho that much?

“Jaejoong?”

And why did his name sound so good coming from Yunho’s mouth?

“Jae?”

Goddamn it.

Jaejoong slowly opened his eyes and was instantly met by a pair of shiny hazel eyes. He felt Yunho’s finger caress his cheek and he flushed in embarrassment.

What do I do?

“Would you…” Yunho whispered, eyes locking with Jaejoong’s.

Jaejoong averted his head, breaking their eye contact. Yunho caught his chin in his hand and turned his head until their eyes met once again. Jaejoong swallowed.

“Would you go out with me?”

Jaejoong held his breath.

“Would you be my boyfriend?”

Jaejoong didn’t know how to answer. He really didn’t. He liked Yunho, he at least knew this much. But he had never dated a guy, he wasn’t sure if he was ready to start doing it at the moment. He wasn’t against the idea, never, just didn’t expect it to ever happen. But Yunho was such a nice and sweet guy, and he was hot, and he obviously liked him. Not forgetting the fact that he’s such a goddamn good kisser.

His mind was in an uncontrollable chaos and his confusion was shown on his face. Jaejoong was so caught up in figuring out his feelings that he didn’t notice Yunho leaning down to kiss him again. His eyes opened wide before closing, hands tightening on Yunho’s arms as he kissed him back yet again.

“Is that a yes?” Yunho breathed on Jaejoong’s lips.

Who am I kidding? Jaejoong thought before he took a deep breath.

“Yes.”
