Part of my Allen-Lambert universe - how could it not with a theme like this! LOL. Hannah is 10 years old, Josh is 5 years old, and Mrs. Willowby joins them.

Kris was having a great dream. He was home with his family, cuddling on a lounger with Adam in their backyard as the kids cannonballed into the pool. Mrs. Willowby was stretched out in a lounger beside them, snoring (although they’d never tell her that) and all was right with his world.
He had been on tour for a month, leaving a few days after the kids got out of school. July had gone too fast and too slow. The tour itself was full of overnight bus rides, sound checks, interviews and boring down time and it seemed to drag on forever. Being away from his loved ones was going too fast. By the time he got home, they’d have maybe five days together before Hannah and Josh were back in school and Adam started spending time in the studio working on his new album.
Next time he talked to Adam, they should arrange a trip away, just the family, before the regular routine took over again.
The dream fogged over and now he was in bed with his husband, spooning as Adam worshiped the back of his neck with kisses.
“I missed you so much baby,” Adam purred.
“Mmmmm….,” Kris groaned, rolling over and seeking out those freckled lips, “me too.” He slowly ran his tongue over the tempting bottom lip as he hands traced Adam’s spine down to his hip. He felt so real, so…..
Kris opened one eye. “Adam?”
Blue eyes smiled back at him. “Morning baby.”
“How’d you….”
Adam stopped the questions with his mouth. “Talk later.”

Sometime later - who was keeping track - they were spooning again only this time Kris was wide awake and there was nothing between them, literally.
“Talk now?” Kris asked.
Adam giggled. “Sure. Whatcha want to know?”
“Oh, I don’t know….maybe, what the hell are you doing in Chicago?”
“Conjugal visit.”
“You came all this way for sex?”
“Yup, but I can leave if you don’t want any,” his husband teased, starting to move away from him.
Kris reached back and halted him. “Get your cute ass back here.”
Adam obliged.
“Not that I don’t appreciated the nookie nookie but really, lover, what are you doing here?”
“The kids missed their Daddy…and so did I.”
“The kids are here?”
“Two floors down with Mrs. Willowby. Probably asleep. It was a looooooong trip.”
Kris traced a finger over Adam’s freckled arm. “I’m happy all of you are here but I’m performing tonight. I don’t have much free time. If you’d come yesterday….”
“Oh believe me baby we tried, but after the comedy of errors known as getting our kids ready to go anywhere, we missed the flight then had to rebook and then when we got here, the flight was put in holding pattern over O’Hare for an hour and then we had to track down the luggage….shit, I surprised we got here at all.”
“Well,” Kris rolled over, pushed Adam onto his back and straddled his hips, “seeing as you came all this way, let’s get conjugal again.”

“Daddy!”
“Daddy, I missed you!”
Hannah and Joshie were all over him before the door closed.
“Sweetpea! Joshie Bear!” He had one caught up in each arm. “I missed you guys so much!”
“We missed you too,” Joshie replied, squeezing his neck.
“Can we come to your show Daddy? Can we hear you sing tonight?” Hannah asked, her eyes darting between her parents.
“Of course. I’m going to be busy but we’ll spend as much time together as we can.” Josh wasn’t ready to let go so Kris scooped him up and approached the other party in the room. “Mrs. Willowby, I missed you too.” He kissed her cheek.
The older lady blushed. “Oh, you sweet boy, thank you for saying so.”
Joshie tugged on Kris’ collar. “Daddy, I’m hungry,” he pouted.
“Me too,” Hannah added.
“Me three,” Adam offered. “I’ve managed to work up an appetite.” He winked at Kris.
“Daddy, you’re face is red.”
Kris cleared his throat, “That’s, um, because, I’m hungry too. How about we go out and find some Deep Dish Pizza?”
“Yay!”

The concierge told them of a restaurant nearby that had good pizza. Kris left word where he’d be and the family ventured onto the streets of Chicago.
It took longer to get there than they’d expected - both men ran into fans who asked for autographs and pictures. They really should have brought security with them but in the end, it was Mrs. Willowby who kindly shooed them away, explaining this was family time. Luckily, the fans understood.
If she hadn’t stepped up, Kris had a feeling Joshie would have. He had both men by the hand and was telling everyone in earshot. “Daddy and Papa are hungry!”
Settling into a booth at the back, they ordered cold drinks and individual pizzas for the kids, since they always fought over toppings, and the adults ordered one to share.
Lowering his voice, Kris commented, “I probably should have checked before I told them they could come tonight. Two hyper kids are the last thing the crew needs running around backstage.”
“It’s not a problem. I had to clear this whole visit with the label before we came anyway. I know how anal they can be about unexpected distractions.”
“That’s my man, always thinkin’.”
They’d just gotten into their lunch when Kris’ PR guy showed up at their table. “I’m sorry Kris but you have a radio interview. We need to leave.”
He looked at his watch. Already? Hannah and Joshie looked at him with big eyes and stuffed cheeks. They couldn’t talk with their mouths full but he knew they were asking ‘why’.
Mrs. Willowby waved down a waiter and asked for a take out box. She insisted Kris needed to eat and she was going to send some pizza with him.
“What are you going to do while I’m working?”
“We’ll find something. Maybe take a city bus tour or go down to the waterfront…I bet that concierge knows some good kid friendly spots. Will you be back at the hotel after the interview?”
Kris looked at his wrangler. “Afraid not, after that you have a sound check at the auditorium then a meet and greet.”
“Any free time at all?” Kris usually didn’t care but his family was here damn it!
“The show starts at 8pm, the M&G is over at 5:30. You have a couple of hours but we need you close by just in case.”
The look he gave Adam was as disappointed as the one on his kids’ faces. Kris was usually the voice of reason but Adam spoke up. “Go do what you have to do. I’ve got security passes for all of us; I’ll pick up dinner somewhere and we’ll meet you in the Green Room around six to eat. We’ll be fine.”
“Kris, we have to get going.”
Mrs. Willowby put a third of the pizza in the box while Kris kissed the children goodbye and said goodbye to his husband.
“Go on rock star, we’ll see you soon.”
Kris headed towards the exit, stopping to look back at his family. Mrs. Willowby was taking a mouthful of pizza, Josh was picking toppings off his slice, Hannah had a mile long string of cheese between her slice and mouth and Adam was trying really hard to look happy for the kids’ sake.
The rock star knew he’d missed them but he didn’t realize how much until now.

As usual, things ran late. By the time Kris got to the Green Room, the only sign the kids had been there were two empty McDonald’s Happy Meal boxes on the table. Mrs. Willowby was gone too.
Adam explained before Kris could ask. “They’re with Mrs. Willowby and Cale. The crews’ tossing a Frisbee around out there somewhere and the kids are joining in.” He held up a paper bag with a big grease stain on the side. “Two Italian beef sandwiches with dipping juice, chili fries and cold - well lukewarm - beer. And for dessert,” Adam set down the brown bag and picked up box from the Cheesecake Factory with a ‘need I say more’ expression on his face.
“You trying to give me heartburn,” he playfully scoffed.
Adam kissed his cheek. “Why not, you make my heart burn constantly.”

The concert was sold out and the crowd stayed on their feet the entire show. One of the backstage crew found noise deadening headphones for the kids so they could enjoy the show but not have their young eardrums damaged. By the encore, Josh was asleep on a chair behind the soundboard and Hannah was about ready to join him.
Kris came off the stage flying higher than a kite and having Adam’s arms waiting for him was the best ending to a great show. He looked around for the kids and was startled to see them asleep.
“Was I that boring?” he laughed.
“Well, you’re no Beiber but I think the day’s just caught up with them.”
“I hate to wake them up to say goodbye but….”
“You don’t have to.”
“Adam, I’m leaving tonight, I just can’t go without…”
Adam took his hand. “Come with me.” Kris let his husband lead him through the maze of floor cables and machinery to the back exit. He opened the door and Kris saw four tour buses - there should only be three.
“The fourth is ours. We’re traveling with you for the next week.”
“How on earth did you swing this? You know how expensive those things are to lease?”
“Not so bad. The label wangled a good deal for us. If you’d been home, all of us would have gone on vacation and spent nearly as much.” Kris raised an eyebrow. “Alright, not THIS much but it’s worth it to be together isn’t it? Besides that, the kids get to see what life on the road is like for their parents and while you’re working, they can explore.”
“I….You….I….”
“Always so eloquent. Mrs. W. already moved your things into the new bus. There’s a living area, TV and DVD, kitchenette, bathroom, bunks for the kids and Mrs. Willowby and a private room in the back for us.”
Kris replied with a hug and long kiss. “Remember when we were on the Idol tour and snuck into each other’s bunks. It was awfully tight but we made it work.”
“This time, we don’t have to worry about banging our head on the side of the bunk when we f….”
“Daddy, I’m hungry. Is there any cheesecake left?” Kris tore his eyes away from his lover and looked down at the drowsy little girl tugging at his pants.
“Yes, but you can have some tomorrow. It’s time for bed.”
Adam picked her up and by the time they reached Joshie, she was sound asleep. Kris picked up their son and the quintet snuck outside and into the family bus. Kris left Adam and Mrs. Willowby to get the kids ready for bed while he went out to sign some autographs. By the time he got back, the kids and their nanny were fast asleep and Adam was waiting for him in the bedroom.
It always took time to decompress after a show and what better way to use up that excess energy.
Night all.
