Tommy had put his arms up about a second too late to keep from hitting his head as he'd turned towards the wall in anger and blinding hot tears he didn't want to give this bastard the satisfaction of seeing. Not that it mattered, it wasn't like anything could hurt worse at this point.
"Tommy, I really don't think you're being fair here-"
Oh the fucking nerve- "No, Adam, you're the one not being fair!" He furiously rubbed at his eyes, the tears stinging like acid. "You promised we were all gonna be there, but you're just a fucking liar!"

"That was when we didn't know RCA would kick my ass to the curb!" the attempt of an excuse went on behind him. "It's not my fault Warner Brothers wanted a new look-"
"New look? Then why the fuck is Cam welcomed back?!" Tommy brought down his fists to hit at his sides.
He could hear Adam hemming and hawing behind him. Yeah, caught you in your own lies, asshole. "...I thought so," Tommy grit his teeth.
"Tommy, it doesn't mean we have to change. We can still-"
"And you promised you'd never hurt me." Fuck, he hated sounding weak.

A long, defeated sigh. "I know."
It was the soft voice that had won him over in the first place, and now was breaking his heart.
Tommy felt himself slowly fall to the floor, knees pulled up to his face to catch a fresh wave of sobs.
"I did make a promise and I meant it. But-"
"But nothing," Tommy spat out. He didn't want to look up, didn't want to see that face and be fooled again. "How am I supposed to believe a goddamn thing? Promises are just lies in disguise with you."
Adam's silence said it all.
