Dite's Suite, Arms Hotel, Monday Afternoon

Anytime there was an overnight trip to the island these days, it was traditional for people who'd been given a key stayed over in Dite's Suite. During reunion weekend, there were several such people--and all their friends--but while that meant that sleeping quarters were a bit cramped, it reminded Karla of the giant slumber parties she used to

Triela didn't have a key, of course, but she did have an invite. She knocked firmly on the door, the stepped back, waiting in a sort of at-attention stance for someone to let her in.

She rather suspected that she wouldn't get much more time, and despite her uncaring attitude, she did want to spend it with her friends.

Karla's jaw dropped for a second at the sheer beauty of that--the excellent delivery, the fine wordplay--and then laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes.

Triela leaned over, wrapping Karla in a light hug as she laughed along, though not nearly as hard.

"I'm glad you can still laugh like that," she grinned.

"Stupid Zombie invasion." Leda grumbled. "Never got to have that water war."

Triela laughed. "That's Fandom for you, though, right?"

"I guess so. It wanted to welcome us all back in style. Did you have fun at least?"

"It's been a pretty good weekend, honestly."

"What about you?"

[anarchist_queen]

"Yeah! I got bit by a non-zombie gremlin last night, but I turned into someone fun so it was okay. Plus it's been great seeing old friends again. It's been over 40 years for me, but I've never forgotten most of you guys."

She wasn't entirely confident of her memories of everyone.

"Forty years." Triela shook her head. "A lot can happen in that time." She smiled. "I'm glad you haven't forgotten us."

"Married, divorced, raised a kid, started an orphanage, fought a war, almost got sacrificed to an Elder Goddess. Not, specifically in that order. But yeah, lots of stuff. I gotta admit, a lot of details about this place have slipped my mind. But not you."

"You have been busy," Triela grinned. "But it sounds like it hasn't been all bad."

When it was bad, it was pretty damn bad. But Leda wasn't going to bring that up. "Not all bad, no. Sila, my daughter has been a big bright spot."

"Daughter, huh?" Triela grinned. "Bet she's older than me by now."

Leda tried not to worry about such math things. Trying to figure out the time change between worlds was just a headache, and adding the afterlife?

"Almost 30." Leda said. "No, wait, 16, 26, 36...okay, almost 50. Which is still really young for an Elf. It was quite the scandal when I got married in my 20's."

Triela laughed. "Good to know you have to do math to figure that one out."

As mun suddenly realizes this

"Man I just realized how weird it must look to everyone else. I'm only about a decade older than my step-daughter. Holy shit I'm a soap opera."
