Car woes

Poll Oh Noez! Car Woez!
So the car has dropped gas mileage in the last month (5-9mpg) and has been either burning off or leaking oil. And today it started making this horrible knocking sound. I had my brother (who went to mechanic school) take a look at it. He says it's probably the pistons or the rods having too much room in the shaft. He found metal flakes in the oil.

Good luck with the car, hon... :-( I'd probably get rid of it ASAP so I wouldn't have to worry about it any more, but that's just me.

Could you sell it for parts? I've heard that can be more lucrative than selling the car itself (do some research on it?). Chop shops are where the money in car theft comes from, anyway. If you don't sell the parts, I would trade it in--or donate it to the kidney foundation for a big tax cut, but that won't benefit you immediately. Selling it to some stranger who doesn't know all that's wrong with it is a lousy thing to do to someone, which I doubt you would do.
