So M had a Scout buddy who works on Jaguars for a living, so we had him take a look at our car. Head gasket seals are weak, there is oil in the coolant, and that knock is a rod. So everyone we talked to was right, and we are definately in need of a new engine. Poll Oh Noez! Car Woez!
So the car has dropped gas mileage in the last month (5-9mpg) and has been either burning off or leaking oil. And today it started making this horrible knocking sound. I had my brother (who went to mechanic school) take a look at it. He says it's probably the pistons or the rods having too much room in the shaft. He found metal flakes in the oil. ( Read more... )
