I really like parallels, and not being able to build one for Jessie is my greatest regret about Reality. It might sound like a hassle to the reader, but I think it really strenghtens the story (not to mention that it is, IMHO, the biggest freakin' clue about what is going on) - and you handled it beautifully, so I have to repeat my congratulations. :)
