Commissions! (and other, more boring stuff)

It's almost one in the morning and I'm still wide awake. Blarg.

I looked up all the text books I need, and tomorrow I'm going to the university to get my new bus pass sticker thingie and buy books (hopefully the stores will be open *crosses fingers*)

I'm putting spinning on hold until I can get someone who knows how to do it to look at what I've ( Read more... )

I basically just googled it, but here's a site that reviews patterns, and some of the reviewers mention authenticity:

and here's a site with walk-throughs for some patterns (mostly corsets) and they sell supplies and stuff

My search results turned up a lot of costuming sites for re-enactment groups, which was handy, although probably not the best thing ever. And like I said earlier the general consensus is that Simplicity patterns are pretty good, and definitely acceptable for the beginner, so if you don't want to draft your own those are a decent alternative. There was another pattern company that kept coming up (Past Patterns, I think) that everyone seemed to love.

If you end up finding something useful that I've missed do let me know :)

Yay! You should probably talk to me about yarn weights and stuff before you go out and buy something, though. I don't wanna get stuck making you gloves out of laceweight or something -_-* (I used bulky yarn for the gloves in the pic).
