The Jones has landed

Well, I am well and truly ensconced in my hotel room in Washington DC. It was a schlepp and a half to get here and I realised this morning this was the better trip as going home I will be leaving from Columbus (Columbus-Iforgetbutsomewheretochangeplanes-DC-LAX-Brisbane-Perth). Glad you arrived safely.

I don't think I could travel overseas, too many hours sitting for my body. I'm seeing Les Mis concert in the cinema tomorrow, and at 3 hours it's worrying me a little. I can't sit still for any length of time.

Welcome to the US. I'm on the other side where it's raining. So much for sunny California.

I'm just holidaying. A bit of California, some Canada (where I am now) and back to California. Oh! And I'm here for the SKate Canada International which starts on Thursday. I'm in Toronto now and the weather is a balmy 19C!

Hmmn: you're reminding me of how claustrophobic flying makes me feel...and I do this haul in a week.

Heh, and you're reminding ME of how I miss the adventure of airports, the miracle of flying, thinking how a twelve hour trip used to take twelve weeks on a boat, and how the world's spinning under the shooting pressurised capsule of the plane like a sunrise under superman in the closing credits.

And arriving in a strange place, seeing people who might be thinking in another language at just that moment, so that even if you could read their thoughts, it would be a secret code that you couldn't penetrate.

And setting out to explore a strange city, like exploring a fractal, where you don't have the time to see all of it but the feeling creeps over you that the corner you're seeing is giving you clues about the whole organism, if only you could do the maths.

Ahhh, travel!

I hope the Library was complete and utter coolness.

I dunno. I love airports too but when you feel gross and want a shower and a bed and to be left alone and you're only halfway through your journey, the love gets thin.

I do love travel too, I must admit.

The library was the coolness
