OH! It's YOU. I couldn't remember. Hee! I am not surprised- we seem to agree on much re: who and what are worthy of watching.
He is indeed smoldering. Mmmmmmmmm. And good at it, too. Arnaud's got a nice depth to his portrayal. He's out-acting Jeremy Irons by a mile simply by virtue of underplaying things.
Yo, Mr. Irons, I know you're a legend and all, but you don't have to chew scenery every time you're in front of the camera! The best scene he's had yet is the one with his youngest son, where he's talking about the advantages of a good marriage. Finally a little subtlety!
Arnaud's doing Angsty Murdering Incest Dude quite well. He should put that on his CV. Also I can't decide if I want him to end up with his henchman/slave/hitman or his SISTER. My shame, I can't seem to find it.
(He was in a movie wherein he does naughty gay things with another teenager btw. He really does have chemistry with everything.)
Every time I see a post from you, I startle like a colt!
Rewriting The Stand: SACRILEGE. Game of Thrones: I'm intrigued, but reserving judgment. However, my love for Sean Bean holds true. (I've never read the books, so I'm a blank slate.) Borgias: similarly uncertain; it's kind of boring except for that assassin guy and the mistress.
Howzabout you link me to the ppl who are writing the best H50 stuff? Pairing is of no import. Or perhaps you have a rec list on your LJ already? Do tell!
I kid you not- I stopped reading King after I read The Stand. Nothing compares. But still, ZOMBIES! You can just see Mother Abigail beating them with a stick, right?
I think the books would help flesh things out, yes. You get everyone's POV as the chapters switch narrators, so you get in their heads more than you otherwise would. But I have to say that I was overall pleased with the first ep and what parts of the book were chosen for it and how they were included.
I am fascinated with the Borgia period anyway, so I think it probably gives me an edge/tolerance level if it seems to be moving slower for others. Heh.
