I deleted my facebook.

Feb 04, 2008 13:37

It took 3 days before anyone noticed. Funny that. This post isn't about that though. It is about how when you "delete" your facebook, nothing is actually deleted. It just lays dormant on the servers until you feel like logging back in later ( Read more... )

Oh facebook. stupid facebook.

If there was stuff on facebook that couldn't be accessed by other means, i would be pissed off, but having my name and my birthday, minus the year? not going to 'cause identity theft.

I take great pains to not leave stuff where it's easily googlable. Not just for protecting my identity, but because it's nobody's damn business and it creeps me the fuck out to think that some person I don't know is reading about me (she said and she noticed her entry was public). Really though, if you go back through my journal you will notice that if i'm getting intensely personal, it will be friends only. If I'm mentioning anything more specific than Vancouver, it's friends only.

Now. Facebook may be "friends only" in the strictest sense of the word, but my information is making them money. Just because they're keeping my name/email address out of it doesn't make my information any less mine.

Nevermind the whole other rant about how facebook is just a lazier myspace. GENERATE SOME CONTENT PPLS. JOIN THE WEB TWO POINT OH.

I prefer facebook over myspace, mainly because everysite at least used to be the same. i hate the applications.

i like facebook for it's events and group pages, it saves people from making a real website, which 10 years later isn't that much different from when i first tried to make one.

You deleted it when? I just sent you an invite for something the other day. *confused* Why did you leave me on facebook? *cries*

Like three days ago? Friday maybe? Apparently though, as evidenced by rant above, you can never really "leave" facebook. It has its claws in too deep. IS THAT WEE SAM IN YOUR ICON? *pets him*

You should log in, change all your info, then go dormant

Well that's just the thing, the facebook people have essentially told me to do that. And I have. Except for wall posts and confirmed friends. Only, see, I can't log in anymore because the reactivation system sends out links that don't work. Fuckers. I'm only a tad frustrated with it.

i noticed that all your information changed and went wonky, because on my newsfeed it said you were "no longer single" <3, and I was like oOooo, so I looked, and then it said you were born in 1969 or something o_O

It wouldn't let me delete my birthdate entirely, so I made up a new one :D

Haha my friend Kaarina said the same thing about the "no longer single" bit. I was like DUDE, if something had happeneded, you would be definitely hearing about it before my facebook got updated.
