I really should stop giggling at the more obsessed Twilight fans. It's completely hypocritical of me, seeing as I avidly fangirl shows about aliens (some of the teenage) and wizards (most of them teenage). So why should I snicker and point at the more obsessive fans of teenage vampires in a book I've yet to read (but will read eventually, I swear

But really, I'm with King on the difference in quality between the source material. And if you think the felted womb is creepy, take a look at the inspiration, Breaking Dawn where Bella has her demon baby break her ribs, her pelvis, her spine, before eating its way out of her womb killing her.... (But it's OK, cuz Edward's venom gets to her in time to change her over).
No, I'm not making this up. And I guess I should feel guilty for spoiling you. Feel free to slap me. But really, is the above really weird in context of that. And that is a professionally published bestseller.

Hmm... you don't look that remorseful...
The felt womb thing is so over the top that it really is impossible not to giggle. But I have to admit I really do feel a tiny bit (just a tiny bit) guilty about laughing too much over Twilight, because I figure that if I think about it, people could probably pull similarly ludicrous plot points out of Roswell, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who.
But mostly I think that if I tell myself all that, acknowledging the silly things in my own fandoms, then I'm just giving myself an excuse to continue mocking Twilight. Because after all, so long as I publicly acknowledge my double standard, that makes it okay to continue to point and laugh, right?

I can't absolutely vouch for Roswell or Doctor Who, only saw one episode of Doctor Who (at Wonderful's urging--didn't like it) and never saw Roswell. And God knows Rowling has plot holes of doom, but Good God, I refuse to believe anything can be more ludicrous than Twilight even before the baby of doom (tm)
