It's official. WSJ confirms the Gintama anime is ending. Who knows though? Maybe we'll get another movie out of the deal?

I still firmly believe that the anime is only going on hiatus again because they've pretty much caught up with the Manga. Although I still don't really know how they're going to do it with Kintoki in the preview for the next ep. Guess we'll just have to wait to find out ;).

And the Manga is way too epic atm, I don't think they'll miss out on the opportunity to turn it into anime.

I hope for another movie too =)

Ugh, I guess this means I'll have to catch up with the manga now :'(. It's not the same though (without Sugita's sexy voice for one...)

Bawww ;_; Since the anime caught up to the manga, it was expected. I think the production is simply going on a hiatus until there are enough chapters to whip up another 50 or so episodes. That means we'll have to wait for another year for the anime to resume.

Then again, what about the Kintoki preview? I bet we'll be trolled mightly in honor of the last episode. It'll be hilarious.

I don't think this is a case of simply having the anime caught up with the manga. The article clearly says that while the preview for the previous episode was titled, "To be determined," the actual 252nd episode was titled "We're Sorry." It kind of implies that the news, or decision to end the anime came just as abrupt to them as it was to the audience, which forced them to change the title of the episode at the last minute. Also, from the excerpt, WSJ states that, "Gintama will end after 5 years." which means they took into account the time when the anime actually went off air for a year to gather more manga material, but this isn't what they're saying now. Five years is the entire run of the Gintama anime right there, and they are wrapping up after five years. There's a tone of finality to it.

I'm upset as anyone, but I don't understand why three WSJ anime series are ending so abruptly. I wonder what could the reason be?
