I'm not a "fan" of Hirst, per se. But I did giggle a ridiculous amount when I came up with the idea of cutting the eggs in half. And I did enjoy the show about him for as much as it revealed about Noel as it did about the representation of ideas in general. That sort of thing is stimulating.
But to be honest, I find Hirst cruel and cold. It's one thing to kill flies when they show up in unwanted places. It's another thing to breed them just so you can kill them in a spectacularly painful way.
