New Year's Eve - with picspam

My my my it is freeeeeeezing out. I was meant to go to the Tim Burton exhibit today, but it was sold out. Instead I saw Nine, which I did not enjoy on so many levels (but I'll spare you the rant), and then had a nice dinner. Now I'm home and my internal body clock is still all floopy and recovering from getting home after 3am on New Year's Eve.

I went with a few friends to Alias Restaurant after having enjoyed it so much with the inimitable pov_power back in November. After a wonderful meal the wait staff handed out paper crowns (I happened to be wearing my own headdress) and the entire restaurant counted down, toasted at midnight, then got up in unison dancing to Lady Gaga. So. Much. Fun.

We then decided to do a bit of bar hopping. First we swung by Motor City Bar a bar I used to hang out at a lot several years ago, where the DJ played rockabilly, the boys all looked like one of my latest crushes Noel Fielding and the girls all looked like Anita Pallenberg. A bit of a "scene" but it felt like home. Home where sexy fashionable people drink and dance. :-P Or maybe it was all the champagne. Who cares? Then we hopped over to Barramundi Bar for a final few, crammed into a booth, and got into some heavy debates about - among other things - Israel, capitalism, Star Trek and Farscape.

My hope for the evening was to be surrounded by friends. It was important to me not just to have fun and good conversation, but to feel safe and relaxed and enveloped in warmth. And I had all that and more. Nobody among us had any serious, concrete resolutions. Though I have pledged to spend more of my energies on things and people that give positive energy back to me.

Anyway, here's what you're really interested in -- some photos from the early part of the evening, at the restaurant. I hope your New Year's Eve was as good as mine.
