Time is fleeting until Waters of Mars. It's been an intense morning for reasons completely unrelated to DW. But I'll treat you to a mini picspam and spin a tale.
First,
my step niece was born. Her first picture makes her look like a sumo wrestler. I give you Cassandra Lynn:
Mom and baby are doing well. Dad's a bit nutty, but that's ok.
Last night I met up with
pov_power and I'm still recovering. Wine was drunk. Food was shared. And secrets were revealed. I can't think of a more
perfect combination.
Aside from the wine bar hopping, we settled down for dinner at
Alias restaurant which I can't recommend highly enough. She described the food as "American Fusion" and I guess that makes sense. I rather thought of it as American comfort food with gourmet aspirations. I had some kind of pasta with mushrooms and parmesan, brussels sprouts and roast pumpkin with ricotta salata. She had a decadent mac'n'cheese, roasted beets with goat cheese, and kale in a lemony vinaigrette. We shared the lot, chewed and moaned and smiled and contemplated the poor souls who don't possess the foodie gene for savoring flavors.
A shy
pov_power gets captured in my lens:
Then at some point my size 4 1/2 Chucks found themselves a new home:
Since secrets revealed shall not be revealed here, suffice to say a much needed break from life to visit NYC on her part folded nicely into a much needed visit and splurge on my part. If you are looking for ambiance, good drinks and nice desserts, I also recommend Tapeo 29 and Cocoa Bar on Clinton St. And let's just say I'm really really glad I made the time to clean my flat.
Now I must attend to important things in order to be free for tonight. Signing off with a sigh of contentment, I say happy Sunday flist!
