Yesterday I attended Star-Fest, our local general sci-fi con. No real agenda. I didn't suit up or attend any panels, just hit the dealer's room, visited friends, and entered a model in the model contest. Speaking of suiting at cons, I'm still trying to get some fursuiters together with me to walk around NanDesuKan.
Yes, it is an Anime con, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE INTO ANIME TO GO!

I did start suiting maybe at about 10:30 Saturday night -- and while there was the usual friendly ribbing about the fandom, it was actually received overall really well. Unless the atmosphere during the daytime was somehow radically different, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Did you have a chance to see the costume contest? One of the group entries involved four half-mask costumers doing Disney's Robin Hood, and the other was a giant Robot Chicken accompanied by the Doctor.
