Local Bird Goes To Con, Has Fun, Dinner

Yesterday I attended Star-Fest, our local general sci-fi con. No real agenda. I didn't suit up or attend any panels, just hit the dealer's room, visited friends, and entered a model in the model contest. Indeed, I no longer go out with big groups to eat if I can help it. Two or three friends at a time!

Ted Nealy's was the absolute LAST straw for me on big groups. I'd rather eat alone than go thru that again.

(and I'm STILL sorry you had to get caught up in that mess!)

Speaking of suiting at cons, I'm still trying to get some fursuiters together with me to walk around NanDesuKan.
Yes, it is an Anime con, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE INTO ANIME TO GO!
That's in September.

Of course, there wasn't any at the con either, but it wasn't a furry con, so the possibility of drama for me is exponentially lower!

I was wondering if you had made it! I got there pretty late Saturday evening, at roughly 7:30 PM, to catch the costume contest -- and by the time I'd thought to call you, it was already past 10 and knew you didn't like receiving calls after that time. Bruno told me he had seen you around, though he wasn't certain if you were still there when I saw him late that night.

I did start suiting maybe at about 10:30 Saturday night -- and while there was the usual friendly ribbing about the fandom, it was actually received overall really well. Unless the atmosphere during the daytime was somehow radically different, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Did you have a chance to see the costume contest? One of the group entries involved four half-mask costumers doing Disney's Robin Hood, and the other was a giant Robot Chicken accompanied by the Doctor.

We were actually gone by then. We left for dinner about 6:30, and didn't come back to the con. I wasn't feeling real well, Vandy had to get home, and the Carspeckens had to get going home.

I should have called you, actually, figuring you'd probably suit up. I just wasn't up to it myself. Sorry I missed you. :)
