I am one of the people whose comment was deleted on the Spuffy page - I have also been banned. The reason? I suggested that since they found the images on Google, it would have been simple to click the links and get the artists' names.

As for that exchange on Buffyextreme, the defensive overreaction on their part implies consciousness of guilt from the jump.

P.S. I still see the page there even after refreshing, though now there's a post claiming she's going to report people for harassing her and that they "know who they are."

Sadly, that sort of hysterical reaction from the guilty is not exactly unusual in fandom. :-(

They DID need to be told and I'm not seeing a pile-on. Particularly given everyone's been polite, to my knowledge, and it is actually more useful here than usual to have a lot of people telling them, I think - if they can't be persuaded on the moral question, the question of netiquette might do it. (There is a sort-of apology now.) Besides, you linked so we could check for uncredited art. They fucked up, not you.

The amount of times I've heard the bipolar/autism/mental illness excuse for bad behaviour. Harsh as it might sound, if you have a mental illness then it is up to you or those close to you to find ways of improving your interaction with others, not the other way round.

I stand by my earlier conclusion. This is a losing battle.
