10/26/06, My Chemical Romance @ the House of Blues: A Novella

Oct 27, 2006 22:22

First I must start off with a confession; up until last night I had never seen My Chemical Romance live in concert. Shocker, I know. Even to myself because I've never gone this long without seeing a band that I'm really into. Unfortunately I suffer from having bad timing and an ill temper and it just didn't work out until this album and this mini- ( Read more... )

kids at a show of which they are a fan of IS most definitely a force to be reckoned with. reckon with it. there was this story on the afi...somewhere, an interview or something, and davey told of a time when they were playing to about 700 over kids (not an overly big show) and the security was fucking with the crowd, manhandling them, roughing them up, so davey told them to stop it, and they didn't. they hit one of the kids on the head, i think, particularly hard, and all it took was one command from the subconsciously appointed leader of a mutually formed army ( ... )

I've seen Pete Wentz stand on the security fence that keeps the fans away from the stage and kids grope him, pull on his clothes, try to pull him down, etc. I think kids would hurt band members in that setting even though they might not mean to. At that point they are so worked up and are totally caught up in the moment. They are not even thinking they are just acting on impulse, and the impulse is to be close to that person whom you worship.

No Aja, it was bad. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Just. You know in the movie "Men In Black" when Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones talk to someone who's seen an actual factual alien, they have those things that emit a red beam of light and erase their memory... I'd kill for one of those things right about now. Kill ( ... )

My friendslist is so SMART. Between you and Aja discussing the complexities of MCR's teenage fanbase and fandom and GLEE! I feel lucky reading intelligent reviews that aren't just "alsdnfasjk! GERARD!!" ...Though I wouldn't necessarily mind reading that either. Did he sound look good? :D

And alas, I have yet to see MCR in concert. It WILL happen one day. If their fans don't scare me off, that is. I'd hate to get crushed in the mass hysteria. But! I did get to see Ben Folds in a lovely, tiny little venue in South Jersey. It's still one of my favorite concert-going experiences ever.

AMANDA! Amanda, Amanda, Amanda! I've missed you. I'm glad to hear you're safe and having fun abroad (and I'm sorry I didn't say so on your last two posts but I've been busy with all this traveling... I had to buy luggage for the second time ever) and in LONDON! I was there once for only a week and it totally wasn't enough time. I did see punks though. Actual, factual British punk kids and my eyes got so wide they almost rolled right out of my head! One of my best memories ever ( ... )

Annie! Oh man, the British punk kids are amazing (and smelly) and I think Camden Town is my favorite place everever (it's like South Street in Philly -- only HUGE!) and they're just EVERYWHERE up there. Brilliant stuff. It's amazing seeing them in their natural habitat ( ... )

Smelly huh? Well I didn't get a chance to smell the ones I saw because I was just passing them on the street on my way to the tube, but I believe you. It's been pretty acceptable teen behavior to forego the shower for a while. They even mentioned it in "Clueless ( ... )
