The Hobbit: My first off-the-cuff reactions!

Dec 13, 2012 22:05

Just came back from watching The Hobbit. I was smiling with glee as I exited the theatre, - obviously a good sign. The movie wasn't perfect, but I am much less invested in this than I was in LotR, and I thoroughly enjoyed this. Here are my first reactions to the movie, under a cut as there are spoilers...

Yes!!! To Bilbo's crucial pity moment. Wonderful, touching.

And I absolutely can't wait for the Bilbo&Smaug scenes to come.

I hope you and your guests are having a great time. :). I'd been wondering what you all thought of the film, so thank you for taking time out to let me know!

Pretty much what you said :) I'm limited to posting from my phone which I really dislike. I need to sort out flights soon. Would the Thursday be OK to arrive (think the date is 3rd)? I'm happy to amuse myself while you're working :)

Glad you liked it too, Mariole! Sorry for being so tardy in replying, I guess the big Christmas stress had gotten to me there for a day or two, though all is well. I hope you'll be enjoying lovely holidays with family and friends. :)

Oh, excellent review! One of the best I've read, because you mention so many things I loved (and didn't love). Overall, it was just such a pleasure to be carried along by the story and be in that marvelous universe called Middle-earth. The actors were wonderful, and really, the sets and costumes and effects are divine. I know if Tolks could see it he'd be enthralled as well as deeply shocked! Cheesiness aside, it's one heckuva good time to see a LotR movie. I'm glad we have two more to look forward to. Smaug/Bilbo, oh yes!! Thranduil on his stag, yum!! Bring. It. On. :D
