[Today, Barge, you're going to get to see an old timey person figure out the journals. The first part of this is scribbled fast in thin, scratchy handwriting. Thom's using the paper journal he found sitting next to the communicator device, which he doesn't recognise at all, to write notes about said communicator.]

The Barge. [HIS VOICE IS SO DRY.] How informative.

You asked where you were. You've been told.

If by told you mean given the least information possible, then I would have to agree.

...

What is the Barge?

Not that I really have much room to judge... [Molly's still looking a bit gaunt and underfed herself] ...but you're not exactly looking like the flower of health and well-being. Maybe you should check out the infirmary

I don't need a healer--I know exactly what's wrong with me. [You're getting a lovely close-up of his jaw, Molly, because he doesn't understand the relationship between the lens and the image properly yet and keeps forgetting to adjust it.] I can deal with it myself, once my Gift returns.

[My, what a lovely jaw you have. She shrugs a little--she's not exactly going to drag him if he doesn't want to go.] Gift?

Gift. [He says it like you're a little slow and shrugs, camera bouncing.] You know, power, magic.

It's not really all that bad. Sure, you have a warden following you around, but there's decent company, three meals a day and a place to sleep. The Barge is practically a luxury liner compared to the kind of prison ships I've been on in the past.

I can't say I've had the pleasure of seeing the inside of one before this. What do you mean by a warden?

The Admiral, that fellow above mentioned him, doesn't grace us with his personal presence. He talks sometimes on the intercom. So to make sure we keep on the straight and narrow, there's an entire population of do-gooders on board. One of them gets assigned to you to supervise your progress.

My progress. [He laughs without humour.] I see. A single warden to a single prisoner and everyone's already dead. That's... unecessary. And it seems as though it would be inefficient.

Video - He's curious about you, because you remind him of him hourglass_twin September 2 2011, 22:16:48 UTC
[He answers in his own raspy voice.]

Yes, it's quite like scrying, but you can only see what others choose to show you. You are magi, I presume?

This is, unfortunately, no dream, but a sort of afterlife that, while not altogether unpleasant, can be quite unpredictable.

So I have heard. I never expected anything like this from death. [He pauses, looking distractedly over his shoulder at the bed behind him. He jumps back to the magic subject abruptly.] I'm a Master of the Mithran Light. Gifted. But I am starting to understand that not everyone is from the same realm as I. Our words are different. The short answer is yes, I have magic.

[Then, because he's rude and you have hourglass eyes:] Your eyes. They're-- different. Is that a sign of something? Or simply how you were born?

I expected to remain in the Abyss and be tormented for all eternity. This is an improvement, as far as I'm concerned.

Mithran Light...I have not heard of that, but yes, I understand what you're saying.

They are a curse. I see time as it effects all things, I see the world whither and die before my eyes.

A curse. [Oh, you just fascinated him, Raistlin.] Who cursed you? A god? A mishap with magic? Or was it passed from a parent? [He's peering at the video of you intently, looking at your eyes.] What do I look like to you?

Hello, sir. Welcome to the Barge. My name is Chromie, I work here. You'll be just fine, the Admiral has just replicated your living quarters to help you settle in.

I'm no knight. [You called him 'sir', Chromie.] My title is Master Lord Thom of Trebond, but Master Thom or my lord will do.

How is it that this Admiral has the power to do that? Is it simply illusion?

strangehstorian September 3 2011, 08:33:31 UTC
Alright, whatever you prefer, Master Thom! The Admiral is extremely powerful; his abilities are close to that of a god.

He is no god I've ever heard tell of. But if he has the ability to bridge worlds-- He must have power of one kind or another.

You said you work here. Are you a servant of the Admiral? Or something else?
