An adventure with Gillespie, Doily, and that hairbrush that's meant to be a dog
In a development that would make my ten year old self wet himself with excitement, and which isn’t far off from having the exact same effect on my thirty year old self, Aardman Animations are planning to make a film of The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists (possibly with a bit of Whaling thrown in as well). This is obviously f*cking brilliant as it is, but I’m even happier because the producer there is Sarah Smith, who has done a load of great stuff with people like Peter Baynham off the pot noodle adverts and Lee & Herring off the opera and that. As everybody knows, having a book optioned is a cast-iron guarantee that said book will get made and become a smash hit movie within a matter of days, so I’m already flicking through Lear Jet brochures. And I’m going to get a special jewel encrusted knife and fork to eat my cheestrings with. I might even buy internetsdairy that puppy after all.*
*NB internetsdairy: the whole deal will fall apart shortly after I try to steal the original Chas from their studios in Bristol, so don’t actually go buying a kennel or anything yet.
