Gnaaaargh. 20 minutes on the phone later and I still feel like I'm going around in ever-decreasing circles. However, I *think* I have established the following:

*We can't work out when exactly I sat my STAT test. We know that I achieved a ranking of 88 on it, the highest possible, but we can't find out exactly when I achieved it ( Read more... )

bitching, uni, ranting, people suck

*hugs*

Have you considered specialising as a lighting and/or sound tech? They are ultimately the most employable theatre majors.

I have, but that's a QUT course, and I know that I'm not longer physically capable of that course, having several friends in recent graduating classes.

Or option Y

I chose I course I didn't have the gpa to get into. Started doing subjects as a visiting student, yes scrimped and saved and paid the $900 up front per subject to do it. For me it was the best thing I could have done, I had invested a lot of money, so I tried really hard and because I wasn't 'enrolled' in a course Centrelink left me alone. I got excellent marks in 3 subjects then applied for course entry which was accepted.

See, if there were more students like you, my job would be amazing.

Unfortunately my trust fund ran to getting me qualified as a Massage Therapist and Aromatherapist. Ironic, ney? (Also turns out that that little endeavour, at which I got top marks, doesn't count for anything for anyone. Picture my eye twitching very rapidly.) Saving for me right now is so outside the realm of possibility - there's a whole rant attached to this, but the short version is that I get $600 a fortnight out of which I get $300 to eat, pay bills, get around, get medicated and, maybe, entertain myself. I haven't survived a single fortnight this year without being subsidised somehow by someone - be it someone else buying me cigarettes or phone credit or last fortnight the really embarrassing situation of having to ask for money from someone else so that I didn't run out of my pain meds. $900? Not this little black duck, and if I did save or suddenly acquire $900 I'd be more likely to put it towards the getting-to-England-and-my-friend's-sick-mum fund than the getting-a-pretty-little-piece-of-paper ( ... )

Like what? Photography left me behind once digital started (I still use an old Olympus SLR analogue) ... I can't even fingerpaint to save myself, let alone draw anything that isn't a stick figure representation ... and I'd only be any good as a fetish model, which I doubt they have courses in.

Have fun with nursing - if you get past your paeds prac, you'll be home flying. STAT isn't that scary; it's basically grade 10 level everything, so if you can still remember that to a reasonable degree you'll do just great. If you don't, it shouldn't be a big hassle to get hold of study materials. :)

If I get Griffith Gold Coast campus, I don't even have to worry about accomodation - family with space down there makes it all smooth and simple.

UQ is much of the idiots! I know for Arts at least now it's the last 10 years rather than 5 :/ .... The PCA thing for QUT is a joke really ... i had to do one a few years back ... i really don't understand what they get out of it. I'd say go Forensics, but i'm just biased (looking into the postgrad Forensics Psych there)

*hugz for you an Jeannie*

Yeah, it really is coming down now between the forensics or the theatre. If I can get RPLs for my Con stuff, the theatre one mightn't even take the full three years and I'll be out and looking for something else to do reasonably quickly. It's still my passion, even if strictly speaking forensics is my first love (like, since I was 13). I think I'll put forensics first on the preference list with theatre second. I'll still have to audition and interview for the theatre, but they'll know that the forensics would be very very cool, even if I didn't study a single science subject since I was 14 years old. ;)
