How great to wake up to my brave first comment on this chapter! I can hardly blame you for having to scroll back, in this one even I have to refer back to certain things to be sure I'm on track. Yeah, ever since ASiB I wondered, if Sherlock wanted to be a pirate, what about Mycroft? And this is what I kept picturing, although it was more the sort of magic where he wears a tuxedo and does elegant tricks with a top hat. Thanks for commenting, made my morning! G
:D When I was very young, there was a wonderful local stage magic show that did the kind of magic Mycroft was thinking of here, the kind of production with tuxedos and pulling ducks out of hats and doves out of scarves, linking rings and the illusion of people floating in the air. (lucky for the town, the show still goes on, it really is a national treasure.) One of the main magicians (Cesario) was my Mother's philosophy professor, and several of my nursery school/early primary school classmates were in the production as well. I went to nursery school with "Seth the Sensational". Www.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Grand_David So I can completely understand why Mycroft would want to do that kind of thing. All the love! What a great story. You are fortunate! That kind of classic magic is hard to see these days. Last summer I had the privilege to see the elegant British 'conjuror,' Guy Hollingworth, perform a play about close-up magic, 'ThE Expert at the Card Table', it was fascinating. No daring escapes there a la Mycroft but the magic combined with mystery was unique experience. http://www.guy-hollingworth.com/drawingroom.html
Thanks again for supporting TRT, especially as you are the sole kind reader to show this chapter some LJ love. All the hearts, <3 <3 <3
I really like the way you portray the two different relationships in this story - Mystrade verses Johnlock. And how different they are compared to your Indestructibles.
The suspense, you are building, is marvelous. The different threads of the story as well as the different parts of this chapter coming together and forming a whole - is great reading. Only problem: when is the next update?!
I feel almost disloyal to my Indestructible boys!! But it was time to stretch myself with new dynamics and it really is wonderful to have readers to respond to this entirely different portrayal of Johnlock and Mystrade. So thanks for that.
I have to confess that I had huge technical difficulties with my new laptop eating several drafts of this chapter, and I had to rewrite it from the beginning more than once. In a way, it forced me to think even harder about this plot and how the parts of the puzzle fit, and I'm really happy that you enjoyed this l"episode". Fortunately for me work has become a little easier so I am hoping my next update will be much sooner than this one was, perhaps by this coming weekend.
Many thanks for being a stalwart supporter of TRT, especially as this chapter has left readers rather cold. Like diamonds.:)
I did not disappear! I just made you my friend because apparently August got away from me and suddenly you have been crazy productive. I have SO MUCH to catch up on! Looking forward to reading your new series.
So glad to see you back! I hope you can catch up on The Reichenbach Tapes. I also started another WIP which is now on its penultimate chapter, The Omega Sutra. I'm so pleased you friended me so that you can be up on all the ficcage that I've been putting out there. I hope you enjoy The Omega Sutra, but strong warning it is Omegaverse. But dare I say, Omegaverse like it hasn't been done. If that's not your cup of tea, no worries, I'll be updating TRT shortly. Thanks for checking in! G
Wow. I'm really impressed. This is even better than the indestructible series. As the series I have read this one in a rush just cause I couldn't stop (My real life has decreased over the last week
