I believe my customary little *** got dropped and so thanks much for giving me a heads up:)

Yes, John remains dark, but Sherlock is trying to find the light - he denied being an "angel" but he is trying here to act with, possibly, "strong moral principle", following the example of someone who has taught him so very much.

I surprise myself by how much there remains of this story yet to be told, and so I'm glad you're still wanting more.

No, no, no, no! Sherlock and Irene - okay, doesn’t work out. Phew! But then Mycroft and John?! Why can’t they just leave John alone?? My only hope is, that this ‘no light at the end of the tunnel’ is slowly turning into something like: how can they find each other and TOGETHER (NOTE: John AND Sherlock) take care of Moran, Moriarty, and who else needs taken care of (no, NOT Mycroft - and not THAT kind of care!). How many more twists can you put us through, oh Evil One?

No, Sherlock and Irene don't work out in that way, and I rather admire Irene's fortitude in the face of this. I would be an utter wreck, in her shoes. She is made of sterner stuff even than me.
Mycroft and John!! Why, oh why can't everyone leave John alone?? Because he's utterly irresistible, dark or light. No matter what sort of verse I write in it seems that everyone wants John. I'm first in line.<3 But seriously, I do believe that Mycroft now gets the message that there is no hope for him. If he thought that telling John 'the truth' about Sherlock's schemes would win John to him, he was sadly mistaken ( ... )

Thanks for that!! I felt that was time to let a little air into the room and focus also on Sherlock's struggles, which are nearly as bleak as John's. I so appreciate you remarking on that change in POV for this chapter.

“It . . . troubles you. When I - when someone - touches you, it - tingles? Stings? Itches,” she guessed.

Ohhhh, wow. This is fascinating. I'm captivated by the idea that Sherlock has a parasthesia, as he puts it. And I loved the last scene, where he thinks of John and repudiates "any further lessons."

As always, your writing is so vivid that it makes me think of cinematography. I can see everything exactly as you describe it.

I'm dying to see John and Sherlock meet up again. I expect fireworks from you. Fireworks are a pretty thing, aren't they? All poetry and gunpowder, romance and violence. Your writing is like that.

I went out on a limb here. This is most definitely *not* my "Overcome" verse or my "Indestructible" verse-- where I blissfully ignore the (apparent?) sexual reticence of our dear Sherlock. (In my other verses, all such suggestions by our lovely writers have been utterly deleted by yours truly.) And so, I crossed a bridge so many other writers have crossed - what is going on with the delectable Sherlock Holmes? This sort of sensory overload condition can have many diverse causes, or no apparent cause at all; but one example is persons who are classified as having an Asperger's spectrum neuroprofile ( ... )

"underground passage to the restaurant of TV celebrity chef" - God, what more could one want, LOL! ;o)

I continue to enjoy John being such a BAMF, relentlessly persisting in his mission even while swaying on his feet from his injuries. Interesting reveal from Mycroft, poor fellow.

I do tend to think that Mycroft's explanation to John on the show (re Moriarty obtaining Sherlock's life story from him) doesn't really hold water. I may be proven wrong when season 3 airs but I think we'll find Mycroft complicit in Sherlock's deception, although whether to the extent you hypothesize here, who knows. But interesting food for thought!

Bravo for another fine chapter.

It's all true about the underground tunnel to the restaurant. I couldn't make this stuff up. (Well, I could, but I didn't:))

John never gives up. Is that a good thing? I sure hope so. Yes, usually in my verse someone is barking up the wrong tree where John is concerned. I do believe though that Mycroft will be able to see the error of his ways.

Of course in canon we know that Mycroft was the only person privy to SH's secret after the death of Moriarty. And our writers have always used, but twisted, canon without strict fidelity. My solution here will undoubtedly be wrong -- I'm not really trying to predict what S3 may bring - a futile effort -- no one ever did guess what happened after the swimming pool (remember BFI??? XD) But I do like to envision that what may appear to be feet of clay for Mycroft in TRF really is just another move in the game.

Thanks so much for your great comment and for spending time with John in "Trust".
