This chapter, though was just so bittersweet. So tender in places that it physically hurt to read it. Mycroft's and John's confessions brought tears to my eyes.
And I am loving this Irene that pays her debts. Who puts her desires aside and instead puts her experience to good use. And this:
Sherlock was rolling his eyes at Irene’s obvious stupidity in imagining he could not do this, like he did everything else, with lightning rapidity, sheer force of will, flawlessly.
I am not ready to get to the end! And have to wait like everyone else has been waiting for each chapter to appear in turn!

Yes, this was a terribly hard and sad chapter in many ways. Even in its own way for Irene, who wants more, but she is rather practical and will try not to torture herself the way she loves to torture others. It took me a long time after first seeing ASiB to come to appreciate Irene and I expect she still has a very important role to play in this fic before the end.
Don't worry about getting to the end. There is quite a long way to go in this fic so I hope to see you along the way. Your thoughtful and kind comments mean a lot.
Best,

Even though most of this chapter was mostly John’s point-of-view, the pieces from Sherlock’s point-of-view were also filled with John.
Even though I anticipated it coming, this ~
“John,” he said, his deep velvet voice choked with emotion. had me choked with emotion, too. Beautiful.
