The surrealness of the pairing, the cheesy christmas special context, the fact that Bing Crosby died two months after they filmed it (and two months before it aired)... all more than enough to distract from the crappy song.
I'd also submit the Willie Nelson "Little Dealer Boy" variation from the recent Colbert christmas as an acceptable form.
I was listening to your Christmas mix tape from way back and that was what prompted that comment. I heard it about 4 times yesterday in the car and grumbled and shook my fist like an old man with kids on his lawn every time.
"Little Dealer Boy" is so far from the song it parodies that I have no problem with it. As of right now. Especially because Willie Nelson prefaces it with the line "I'm so high you're hallucinating!"
while reading this blog, i thought of how much i missed your witty remarks. i hope you are having a fun holiday break before it's crazy return to "real job" time.
