Oh they're beautiful! I had wondered about Bengals for a while. I'm usually not a big cat person because the aloofness tends to put me off but there are certain breeds that are more 'canine-like'.
I had a tabby that was like this. In fact, her markings were very Bengal-like. (I don't have illusions she was Bengal, however. She was just a little stray we plucked out from under our house and she adopted us)
I love the markings on all of them, though! Tilly is such a love. How patient and loving she is. Proof dogs and cats can get along. :)
Tilly is indeed. She was like a big red nanny when I used to have kittens. She'd let them climb all over all and she even tried to nurse a couple of special favourites!
I think that you can find individuals in every breed and moggies who aren't quite so aloof and give affection in a more dog-like way, however, I've found most Bengals and Bengal crosses to be exceptionally forward and friendly, though they are not necessarily lapcats - unless they feel in the mood - it seems to be like that with dogs though too, the larger the dog the more they want to sit on your lap, lol.
Re. the aloofness. My cousin adopted her mother's cat, Sam (after the sad demise of her mum). I was visiting the other week. My cousin and her daughter were calling Sam. Sam, being typical cat, ignored them and sauntered up to me instead. Then strolled over, near them, then sat down with his back to them to wash his privates. Tee hee.
Yeah, I think like anthing, you'll get exceptions to the rule. But I've seen certain cat breeds with more propensity to aloofness than others, as a generality, and certain cat breeds as a generality who are just more affectionate and canine-like. Somalis and Abysynians are supposed to be in the latter, as well. I like that sort of cat, the most.
Tabbies (just your standard mutt-kitty tabbies) have been very typically affectionate and canine-playful like, I've found, too. Cats are funny, to me. I'm generally a dog person but it takes exceptionally dogy-like kitties to really appeal to me. Gozer was one of those sorts.
It's funny, I'm the other way around - I prefer dogs that are more catlike, who can just chill out and not be all over me. Needy dogs stress me out.
I also don't agree with the aloof cat stereotype. Some cats are (so are some dogs) but my cats have always been affectionate and people-oriented. They just aren't as overt about it as dogs typically are.
Oh, what beauties! All of them! I didn't quite realize that you have seven cats. Are they all related to one another?
The pic of Tilly and Ding rubbing faces made me grin, especially. But they all made me smile. Tilly as a pup - awww!
Fuzzy really does look like she's covered in gold dust! Rico really stands out with that striking pale coat. That photo of Baggy is really just amazing, the light on his face. I can see why he won Best Bengal, too - the proportions of his face are lovely.
Stormy does look shy and a bit scared, in that picture. What I can see of her coat looks so pretty, all those tiny spots. Curdy is gorgeous too, especially her eyes. Ding looks almost amber, just beautiful.
The kittens picture had me grinning again! So cute! Thank you for sharing all their photos. ♥
Nice little Bengal site! :) I like your write-up about the breed personality. Janey has some Bengal-like qualities, actually. She's very active, often vocal, and a bit of a troublemaker (she doesn't go after human food, fortunately!)
Oh drats, where's Maisie?
I'm sorry, but I had to laugh. ^_^ Poor Maisie! She's very pretty, all backlit like that. I love the new kitten pic too. Belly spots! Jane has those, too.
I'm nerdy enough that I had to write little family trees of your kitties. So Fuzzy is Maisie's grandmother, and really the matriarch of the kitty clan.
I love these: Tilly and Cats and Bad Rico. Very bad! This is why we can't have nice things! xD
Thank you for linking those photos, I've just saved them. I was planning to go and work out how to do it at a later date but your link has even given me the Photobucket name so hopefully it won't be difficult to retrieve the rest

I'm guessing Cringer must be giving you love bites, surely if she was putting you in your place she'd really nip? Or give you the rough of her tongue
