That's pretty prevalent in Queer Theories if I remember correctly. At least the first... about 80 chapters? Brian meets a man from his past and leaves everyone in The Pitts to become this guy's kept boy.

also, I haven't read this, but from what I've gathered, in Deconstructing Brian, Brian falls for an original character and is seeing him while technically still being with Justin (don't ask me).
